my grandmother was john Riddell's mother's niece, they came out to Australia at the same time, but on different ships.
I don't have any other information on his family  than you have on your site.

Australia / John Brownen Riddell
« on: Thursday 17 July 14 09:18 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information on John (Jack) Brownen Riddell who died in 1916 in WWI.  His parents were Martha and john Riddell.  They lived in Sydney in the early 1900s.  Martha and John Riddell arrived with two children on the 'Northbrook' in 1879, from Plymouth UK.
I would like to correspond with anyone researching this family or the Lightbody family that Martha was born to approx. 1848, father William Lightbody. Martha died in Sydney Australia in 1933 and is buried at Rookwood Cemetery NSW.

Kent / Re: Blanch family help needed
« on: Wednesday 24 August 11 07:23 BST (UK)  »
i don't have any certificates for robert blanche, i don't think the 1841 census is my robert, the children are different, and his wife was charlotte. i have their children as anne 1812, sarah 1815, john 1816 in Mersham, charlotte 1821, robert 1823.
this info below shows the children of robert and elizabeth brann, (braun), but does not mention robert, that is why i don't think the info i have that robert and edward were brothers is correct, but i can't connect him to any other family.
In 1776 Robert married Elizabeth Brann in the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, at Rolvenden. They had eight children.

Martha Blanch born 1777, Rolvenden Kent, England. She married James Maynard on the 5 September 1799 at Rolvenden Kent, England.
Elizabeth born March 1779 at Sandhurst Kent, England. She married Richard Morris on the 13 June 1830 at Rolvenden kent, England.
Mary born 1780 at Rolvenden Kent, England.
Ann born 1785 at Rolvenden Kent, England.
Edward born 1785 at Rolvenden Kent, England.
Sarah born 1789 Rolvenden Kent, England. She married Thomas Kennard on the 13 June 1812. They had three children.
Philadelphia was born in 1791 at RolvendenKent, England.
John was born in 1792 at Rolvenden Kent, England.
Elizabeth died in 1792 at Rolvenden Kent, England. She was fourty six years of age. Robert died on the 8 February 1831 at Rolvenden Kent, England.

this is correct info for edward, but doesn't help with my robert.
i will go back and edit my first post to include places.

Kent / Blanch family help needed
« on: Tuesday 23 August 11 05:21 BST (UK)  »
i have had some wonderful results thru rootschat on other families i am researching, and am hoping someone will be able to help me with this problem.
i have a jane elizabeth BLANCH (1857-1922) iden who married alfred ashdown (1844-1898)peasmarsh  in 1877in rye.
jane's parents were john blanche (1816/7-1892) mersham and elizabeth butchers (1824-1862.) rye married 1845 in rye.
john blanches parents were ROBERT blanche (1782-1860) rolvenden and charlotte branchard (1786-1823.) marrried may 1808 Hackington kent. all were around the mersham, rolvenden, rye areas of kent or sussex.
i am trying to verify if this family is linked to an EDWARD Blanch (1785-1860) Rolvenden, who emigrated to australia in 1838 with his many children after his wife maria ashdown died. his parents were robert blanch (1753-1831) and elizabeth brann (1755-1791). they were also from the rolvenden area in kent.
many online family trees give these two (Robert and Edward) as having the same parents, but i have been unable to verify this.
in other requests i was told i didn't give enough info, i hope i have this time. i have the census details back to 1841, but don't have any proper records futher back than that.
thank you to anyone who looks up any of these details

« on: Sunday 24 July 11 07:23 BST (UK)  »
does anyone have access to records for the union workhouse in tenterdon in the 1890s?
i have records from the 1891 census which shows alfred ashdown and his three sons william, george and charles being there. the ref numbers are 121/5 and 121/6. alfred later died in the workhouse (imbecile)
are there any further records available?
thanks, kerry, nsw australia.
