Until the Marriage Act of 1836 marriages in the RC church were not considered legal so a couple would often be married in both the RC church and a C of E to satisfy the both the legal & religious aspects. Not sure when the act became law so May may have been before that.
Even after 1836 a 'mixed' marriage of a RC & a Cof E couple would often have been celebrated in both churches and it gives a double registration in the GRO files. I have one example in my own tree.

From Malcolm Bull's Calderdale companion

Uttley, William   Ref 102-108
[17??-1821] Of Millwood, Heptonstall.
He kept a boarding school in Brighouse.

In 1817, he started a law-suit which ruined his finances

In 1818, he started a printing business at Millwood, but this failed.

He became an itinerant schoolmaster

Trouble is there are so many Reuben Haighs & James & John Fieldens it would probably be worth knowing how the OP decided which one was her family
