Census and Resource Discussion / Can I invite someone to view my tree when.....
« on: Monday 25 June 12 09:00 BST (UK)  »
Can I invite someone to view my tree when I have stopped my subscription with Ancestry?  Financial constraints I'm afraid.  I am aware that my tree is still there and that I can view it but now have a distant (very) relative contacting me from Australia and it would be so much easier for him to see the tree.
I am sure someone here will know!
Thank you,

I have CHARLES COOMBS (COMBS, COOMBES) born1822 Bristol, Glos and wife ANN COLEMAN born Bristol, circa 1822.
They married in Bristol in 1841.  On the 1861 census they Christchurch, Monmouthshire, Wales and by 1881 they are in Leckwith Glamorgan, Wales.
Charles is a Brickmaker and it seems they went to Wales around 1850  I have all the censuses except the 1871.  Please can anyone find them?

« on: Tuesday 24 April 12 10:37 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the record for Sarah Annie Henderson born Mar 1881 in Malin, N. Ireland arriving in NY 1905.  This date comes from her Petition  for Naturalisation I have searched and cannot find it.
She married in 1908 but under the name Annie Henderson (in Philadelphia) and I can't find her under that name either.
Would be very grateful for another pair of eyes, please.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Can you read this occupation, Please
« on: Wednesday 18 April 12 19:36 BST (UK)  »
I wanted to copy a little of this record but it won't let me which is a shame as I have to ask someone to look it up.
It is the Draft card for St Clair Smith which I have found on Ancestry in the WW1 Draft Registration Cards 1917 - 1918. I cannot read the occupation.  Can anyone help, please.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / William James Smith Born 1880 Whitchurch Glamorgan
« on: Wednesday 18 April 12 14:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am having trouble finding William on the 1901 census.  He is the first son of John Smith and Mary Davies and was born in Whitchurch, Glamorganshire.  His father had died in 1883 leaving his mother with 3 very young boys, William James (1880), John Richard (1881) and Jesse (1883).
I believe William emigrated to the USA in 1904 but would like to find what he was doing in 1901 if I have the right arrival it looks as though he was a barber or hairdresser.  If that is the wrong arrival  I have his Marriage in 1908  and have the 1910, 20 and 30 census showing him living with wife and children in Philadelphia.
Can anyone find him in 1901, please?
Cheers, Abiam2

The Common Room / local newspapers to the Smithfield Market area.
« on: Tuesday 17 April 12 17:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Does anyone know if there was a local newspaper which would have covered the Smithfield Meat Market area in the early 1960's.  I have a friend whose father was injured quite seriously in an attack and she would like to know more about it.
I thought Roots chatters might be able to help.
Cheers
