hi Marg 59, just checked Simon and May's  marriage and noticed something I never noticed before, it was Mary of Gorthleck and Simon was of Clune, on the same day a Donald Fraser marries a Mary Fraser and he is said to be of Clune. more digging to do  Nikitah

Marg59, Simon Fraser married Mary Fraser at Dores 19/11/1803, on the marriage certificate it says Gorthleck, it can be spelt in different ways. these are the children I have for them,                                                                               
             John 1805,      Margaret 1810,     Hugh 1812,       Alexander 1815,    Thomas 1817,     Janet 1819,     Catharine 1822       and Mary 1824, on Mary's it says Tomvoit, there seems to be a few big gaps but I haven't found any others to this couple.      I think Simon may have died before 1841 because I can't find him on any census nor can I find a death, in 1851 at Boleskine, Mary I believe is living with her daughter Mary Rose ms Fraser although it says" Sister" to the head in this case her son in law I have no doubt this is the widow of Simon and mother of Mary, it states " formerly masons wife". unless you know they went further afield I would stick with the Stratherrick area that covers south Loch Ness as Forfarian says you will need a car but you wont be disappointed. Farraline is a big house where my Fraser/ Rose family worked they lived with in the grounds at Balnoe this is now a ruin, as far as I know they are not related to the  Frasers of Farraline. There's a grave yard at the side of the Loch you can't miss it just before Foyers my Roses are there but I haven't found Simon and Mary there's also one at Dores if you come in from Inverness that's the one you will see first the road goes right through to Fort Augustus. I can only endorse everything already said, I would also add don't throw out negatives either, several years ago while visiting my cousin, 15 years older than me, his wife remarked they had hundreds of negatives inherited from  her father in law, my Uncle, my husband, a keen photographer, said he could scan them, so began a wonderful journey into the past. It took many months of hard work scanning and cleaning but well worth it, there where photos of my mother, her siblings and my grandmother, no one had seen before, photos of when my Uncle was in the Royal Flying Cor when they where decommissioning, just after the first world war, most poignant though was one of my Aunt, my cousins mother, my mothers sister, standing over a grave, this made my cousin cry he was brought up an only child he'd been a twin his baby sister died a few weeks after they where born, he also had another older baby brother and sister who died a few months after their births, in his childhood no one spoke of these babies but now he had proof. More family stories jogged memories with these negatives rising from the ashes that could well have been ashes themselves had it not been for my cousin and his wife keeping them all those years and the many hours of hard work my Husband spent on them 

Thank you ColC, yes you are right about Barbara, I have searched for years, the only confirmation I have for her parents is her death certificate from S P, I'm glad you believe  Alexander's parents to be Alexander Stewarts  and Jean Finlay I came to the same conclusion, I must get my info out because if my memory serves me right I took them back a couple of more generation definitely the Finlay branch I remember confusion of how many different ways it could be spelt. I thought that David Muir could be a throw back but haven't found it yet, but then I wonder about Barbara/ Barbary, Alexander Stewart and Barbara Young called their daughter Barbara, they had a Jean, after Jean Finlay and Janet after Janet Sanderson Barbara was the third , so was she just named after her own mother i e Barbara Young?. I think I will concentrate on the David Muir, see if that brings anything up , thank you for your help and interest, Nikitah. and a happy new year to you all
