Derry (Londonderry) / Trying to Trace family in Londonderry
« on: Monday 24 February 20 22:32 GMT (UK)  »
I am doing research for a friend.
I have started in New Zealand and worked back. ( This is NOT my family )
What i have so far;

Part inscription from Head stone in New Zealand;
 also David Stevenson of the Diamond Londonderry, Ireland died Auckland 21 August 1883 aged 66 years - also wife Ellen Matilda Stevenson died 21st May 1894

Think they married in 1843 Ireland.

Have family arriving in New Zealand;

Ref; Daily Southern Cross 22 November 1862 pg 3
Arrival of the "Ida Ziegler" left Plymouth 24 August.
Passenger's on board.
David Stevenson, Mrs Ellen, Elizabeth M, David, William E, John Torrens, James A , E M Stevenson.

Griffith's Valuation Record Information;
Tenant; David Stevenson, County; Londonderry, Barony; Londonderry, Union; Londonderry, Parish;Templemore ( South Ward), Townland; Londonderry, Place name; The Diamond.

To me it looks like the same family but have done very little research in Ireland. (Cannot find my own family.)

Help needed to find Birth Marriages Deaths for this family. Just point me in the right direction.
I believe David Snr's Father to be a Hugh Stevenson.Have found a Hugh on Griffiths Valuation in the right area but nothing more.
Any help you can give me is much appreciated

New Zealand Completed Requests / I T M Wellington please
« on: Tuesday 18 February 20 22:06 GMT (UK)  »
To our Super Duper Looker upper.
I need nothing short of a miracle.
Am helping a friend to try find his parents marriage.
The marriage doesn't show up on NZ BMD yet.

I have year and Folio Number and i have names of both parties.
I can make a very good guess as to location as both families were long standing in the area.

My friend has short hands and long pockets (not all the time thou)

Can you wave your magic wand and help?

I can pm details to you should you want to take on this quest.

An ever hopeful Carol

Cheshire Lookup Requests / 2018 Death notice lookup please.
« on: Monday 20 January 20 22:16 GMT (UK)  »
With GRO having updated it's Death's to the present date  i think i have found a Relative.
As i live in New Zealand i can not pop down to my local library and have a look.
Would some kind Roots-chatter be able to look it up for me so i can confirm it's my Relative.
I am guessing it will be in a Chester paper around the beginning of February 2018.

As this is a recent death i can give details by Pm.

Many thanks in advance.

Technical Help / Help with newish computer.
« on: Saturday 24 August 19 02:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi  I upgraded to a new computer at the end of  May.  As i am now running on Windows 10 i knew i would have a few problems with Windows updates affecting my Family Tree program.
 Just a few days after getting the new computer up and running, i hit problems. I found out the i had had a corrupted Windows 10 update. Back to the shop it went. When i got it back and signed in it did not have my name but OEM. I tried to change the name of my computer to my own name as this is how i logged in on my laptop. The name of the computer is my name but i still have OEM when i start up. A friend of mine contacted  Microsoft Customer Support. He did everything as they said. So your computer should be back to the same settings you had before the update. I have an e-mail saying that if i want to come back to them with this issue or any other issue they recommend their Assure Software Support Plan which will cover me for the next 12 months.
Every time i start my computer i get OEM sign in. So i sign in. All my documents are now at users\OEM
How do i get rid of OEM??. It is driving me nut's.
Can anyone help me Please??
Plain English please as i only know the basics. ???     Turn ON  Work on Family Tree Turn OFF

Many thanks in advance
