Hi Beanie,

Thanks so much for the information re epitaphs in Kirkmaiden.  What is the Kirkmaiden book?  Do you think there may be a Stoneykirk one too.  This familly seemed to be spread between the two communities.

Some of the family are known as McMorland, while some just Morland....can't find a continuity with each branch.

Thanks again,

Anna

Wigtownshire / Cemetery Records - Stoneykirk/Kirkmaiden
« on: Monday 21 June 10 17:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

Does anyone know where I can access burial records relating to cemeteries in Stoneykirk/Kirkmaiden.  Or even records of headstone inscriptions for the area?

I am looking to trace the location of a burial in 1930.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Anna

Hi there,

I realise that this chain of messages finished a good few months ago, but I am interested in finding out more on these Morlands.  I am researching the line of Robert Morland (son of Robert Morland ~& Agnes Donaghew/Domagan) & Agnes Muir/Moore.

Anyone like to swap info?

Anna

Can anything be done with this photo?  I only possess a scan-copy, not the original unfortunately.

Any thoughts on what is written here?  It is the death certificate if Williamina Bertram in 1900.

Hi there,

The infant deaths were generally 1870s to 1890s and they lived in rural Scotland...........

Hi there,

I've been looking over some old research papers on the family and noted that a few of my ancestors family members had a number of illegitimate children.  There seems to be a pattern of the babies dying in infancy - and the cause of death, more often that not, is 'fits' ........... can anyone tell me what might cause such a high ratio of fitting in one family?

I would be interested to hear all opinions on this subject.

Thanks,

Ana

Banffshire / Re: Ann(e) Lobban died Grange, Banffshire 1849

Hi there,

I am descended from James Lobban & Elizabeth Simpson.  I think their daughter Ann married Alexander Morrison.  I have come across a person on ancestry who is confident that this Ann actually married a McDonald and died in Aberdeen, and I am waiting to hear back on how they came by this info.

Ann Lobban's brothers certainly had close ties with Grange, having farmed at places such as Sillyearn, Crylet and Coldwells within the parish.  They were all as you know born in Glass.  Also sister Isabella had two children over in Grange - one of whom was fathered by an Alexander Morrison - perhaps the other Alexander referred to in some of the reply-posts you have had to your own posting.

Anyway, would love to discuss further.

Kindest regards,

Ana
