Hello Pamela and Susan  :)

Welcome to Rootschat!

We now have 3 Rootschat pioneers who are members of the Le Vesconte family, but you all need to make more posts in order to connect with each other via the Personal Message system!

New members must make at least three postings before being allowed to use the PM facility.
See Help-Page:  http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php

Please let us know how you get on - let's hope that my post bumps the thread higher up the board again and someone replies!
Best Wishes

Hello Wendy  :)

Welcome to Rootschat!

100445 has not been on Rootschat for well over a year but perhaps if they still have the same email address they should receive a notification of reply to the original post.

Hello Lisa  :)

Are you trying to find people who knew your Grandfather or are you trying to trace his family line? There is only one John Rowe Thomas born ca 1904 in Wales on the1911 census so you should be able to find your Grandfather, and pay to view the other family members and address, etc.

I found a 1904 birth of Johnny Rowe Thomas in Ffestiniog registration district of Merionethshire:

Glamorganshire Completed Lookups / Re: Schools in Porth

Hello Eirwen  :)

I'm not familiar with the area, but if the records survive they should be held at Glamorgan record office in Cardiff. For example, Rhondda County Intermediate/Grammar schools, Porth records are there:

and I found this site which has some photographs of Porth schools:

Carmarthenshire Completed Requests / Re: Putz Welsh census
« on: Thursday 24 October 13 00:29 BST (UK)  »
Hello Wendy  :)

I believe that you have the latest available census (i.e. 1911) for Albert so as Gortonboy suggests you would need local directories of a BMD Certificate to find his occupation after 1911. If you search freebmd you will see some Putz records which may be worth following up. Albert's occupation may be on his death certificate, or possibly on one of the other certificates listed in the index? Once you have a date of death you may be able to obtain an obituary, which may include occupation. If you know that one of his children married, his occupation should be on their marriage certificate.

I think the following article(and the 1911 census) confirm Morganllan's findings, though Margaret A's occupation in 1911 is not a teacher.

Remember that women took many occupations and jobs once men joined up in WWI (and WWII of course). Perhaps Margaret became a teacher at the start of the War?
