Thank you both for your help.
Did the GRO 1913 entry say where the death took place please?
Regards
Andy

Somerset / Death of a pauper
« on: Wednesday 26 September 07 11:51 BST (UK)  »
My GG grandafther Job Skinner was born in Taunton in 1834. He appears in various Census returns with a family which grew to 10 children. He was a sawyer.
In 1891 census he is in the workhouse described as a pauper. The rest of the family are still living in East Reach Taunton, his wife being first a hawker and in 1901 a shopkeeper/grocer.
Job has disappeared by 1901. I have however never found a record of his death.
I assumed that he died in the workhouse but a trip to the records office in Taunton and a look through the guardians book showed nothing.
Can anyone help please.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thank you both for your replies. The Leigh upon Mendip marriage looks very promising. Thank you for the time and effort that you have made. This one has eluded me for some time.
Kind Regards

No results from local newspaper reports found yet. I am surprised that the visit wasn't recorded as Miyake was quite a celebrity who had fought in Europe and the U.S.A. Can anyone help please?
Thanks in anticipation.

Help please in tracing details of the marriage of Peter Moon to Ann in Shepton Mallet c 1793 - 6. They were Non conformists, I think quite devout by tyhe colourful Old Testement names that they gave to their children. I would particularly like to discover Ann's maiden name.
Thanks in anticipation.

Gloucestershire / Fred Knowlson Bristol 1905
« on: Wednesday 14 March 07 12:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have a medal awarded to my great uncle Fred Knowlson in September 1905 for Best Amateur Wrestler by visiting Japanese instructor Taro Miyake. I have researched Miyake and found that he was one of the first eastern martial artists to introduce Jujitsu to the U.K. He also fought extensively in Europe and the U.S.A.
I haven't been able to find out anything about his visit to Bristol or about the club that my uncle, who was deaf and dumb trained at. Does anyone have access to local newspaper reports for this period please? The medal is dated 2nd September 05.
Any information about the club or the wrestling scene in Bristol at the turn of the century would be really welcome. I have recently retired from full time work to teach kickboxing and self defence so this bit of family tradition is very close to my heart.
Thanks in anticipation.
