In the Obituary posted for Edward TWOMEY in 1920 it says he has 2 brothers John and Timothy TWOMEY. So Edward and Timothy not the same person.

There was a son Timothy. Of  course you knew that and you are wondering if this is indeed Edward... 
Victorian BMD:
TWOMEY   Given names Timothy   Event Birth    Father's name / Spouse's family name Maurice Mother's maiden name / Spouse's given name Sarah (Bennett)   Reg. year1878   Reg. no17213
There were many " change of life babies in those days" --haphazard  birth control in those days then...

The Edward TWOMEY of interest in bevcal's query died in 1929.

I have mentioned the obituary of another Edward TWOMEY merely to eliminate that man from our search.  Yes, that man who died in 1920, had a brother called Timothy.

I had no success in searching there for the marriage, but the trick must have been in the surname spelling

Marriage conducted according to Rites Baptist Church
Witnessed by Maurice James and  Eleanor A Toomey
QLD BMD: B31389  - 
This would make Edwards birth date 1877.

So am I.... so pleased to have received all this info....   I have been searching too but have to go to the library to access things like Electoral rolls etc.... that can be difficult when time poor...
