Sussex / Birth puzzle help please-England or Ireland?
« on: Monday 01 February 21 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I am looking for help in finding the birth of a Margaret McIlwaine. She married in 1910 to Albert Harmes, both age 22 at the time, in Belfast Ireland, her father is given as James McIlwaine, a blacksmith. She is in Eastbourne England in 1911 at home with their first son Thomas aged 5 months, but no husband. Rumor in the family was that she born to English parents, quite possibly in Ireland around 1888 time. Ive found her in a boarding school in 1901 Ireland aged 15. Another family rumor was that her father was sent to Australia and her mum abandoned her, which is why she ended up in the boarding school. I have absolutley no idea where to find a birth for her, i think she had a sister Sarah that came to England with her but i cant be sure. Thankyou in advance xxx

Lincolnshire / William Gibson family help please ?
« on: Wednesday 27 January 21 11:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
Im trying to find a William Gibson born 1852 in Hareby Lincolnshire, he married Elizabeth Roberts (Betsy) in 1873 in Wragby Lincolnshire, and Williams father is down as George Gibson on the marriage transcription, William and Betsy had 5 children William 1876, Rose 1877, Sarah 1879, George 1886 and John Henry in 1893. All i know about the family is that in 1895 Sarah Gibson, the daughter, at aged 16 murdered her little brother John Henry Gibson, then aged 2. Sarah was sent to Broadmore and the trail runs cold on her. What i am looking for is the death of William Gibson the father and also any sign of him before he married Betsy in 1873, so either the 1871 or 1861 census with his family.
Any help would be very much appreciated as i cant find anything. thankyou in advance.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Help locating a death please?
« on: Saturday 16 January 21 14:09 GMT (UK)  »
Im looking for the death of Richard Turner but im losing the will to live trying to find him. Richard was born in 1888 in Rotherham Yorkshire to a James W Turner and Maria Lawton. Richard married Alice Proctor in 1909 in Grimethorpe nr Barnsley. He enlisted in the West Yorks regiment in 1914 but according to his service records within 3 months he was considered unfit and sent home, he had at least 3 children, the last being in 1914. His sons marriage certificate in 1930 shows Richard as deceased. I have found a Richard Turner who died in 1916 but that death shows that he was killed in action in France. Was it possible to be discharged from the Army and then to reinlist with another regiment, which subsequently could have got him killed x

He married an Alice Proctor in 1909 in Grimethorpe Barnsley, and his father was given as James William Turner, miner. I know they had a son called Walter Turner in 1910 as he is on the 1911 census with his mother and father, but when Walter married in 1930, Richard Turner had already died. Any help with either a birth/death for Richard or any earlier census records would be really great, pleeeeese xx Thanks in advance

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Feeney family 1901 and 1911
« on: Tuesday 05 January 21 12:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
Im looking for a Feeney family in the above two census records please. John Feeney born 1868 Galway Ireland and his wife Helen (Ellen) Feeney m/n Rodgers, born 1871 they were married in 1897 in Doncaster. I have found John Feeney as a married border in 1911 living in Denaby Main, as a Coal Miner, but there is now sign of his wife or children anywhere. They had a son Michael in 1904, daughter Honor in 1905, daughter Margaret in 1907 and daughter Sarah in 1909 all born in Doncaster. I have found John Feeney and his wife Helen in 1939 living with their daughter Margaret in Grimesthorpe. Sarah Feeney married a Walter Turner in 1930 but her birth is down as 1 March 1911 on the 1939 register which totally threw me. Any help locating this family would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Richard Parkin info please
« on: Saturday 06 June 20 17:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
I posted a while back regarding a Robert William Parkin that I couldn't find any information on, including a birth. I now have his marriage certificate, he was 27 and he was married in October 1942 in Thorne Yorkshire, to a Sarah Parkin, who was previously married to his brother Percy Parkin, her maiden name was Ward, Percy died in 1942 in Upper Agbrigg in Yorkshire. Robert Parkins father is given as Richard Parkin deceased on the marriage certificate, could anyone help me find a possible marriage for a Richard Parkin, I have looked but not come up with anything. I have found Robert in 1939 living with his brother Percy Parkin and Sarah, who later married Robert but that is all.  Any help to find Richard Parkin is appreciated, thankyouxx
