Hi Michael,
Thanks for that info.
I've tried that web address you gave me, but it doesn't seem to be working? Is it working for you?

Northumberland / Hepburn Farm

Hi there,
Does anyone know anything about Hepburn Farm, near Chillingham, Northumberland?
I've just received a death cert for my great grandmother and it states she died at Hepburn Farm in 1925. It also says her occupation was Housekeeper.
Would she of been a housekeeper at the farm or would the farm simply have been her dwellings, near to where she actually worked?
I've tried googling Hepburn farm, but didn't get much back.

Thanks for any info

Thankyou all for those links - I shall go off and have a look at them now.

Reg - thanks for your offer. I'm really trying to find out where my great uncle would of trained. All i know is that he was born in Northumberland, went onto a training ship around 1916, then got married in 1929 in Northumberland. I'm guessing the training ship was in Northumberland too, but I have no idea what it was called or where i can get any more info. If you think you can help by putting a post on that site then i'd be really grateful.

Thank you,

Yes, i have noticed a few little blips with Ancestry, but on the whole i've found it really useful, even if i do sometimes have to be a bit inventive with alternative surname spellings to find what i'm looking for!!

Thank you both,

Is there anybody who can find the spouse in this marriage for me please -
Sidney Hawthorn married ??? Hannah Oct 1945 Kensington 1a 325
I've searched on Ancestry, but the page with the surname Hannah seems to be missing. I've spent ages trying to find it and am starting to go mad!

Thanks so much,

Thanks for that info. I had tried googling 'training ships', but didn't get very far, but now you've given me a specific name I might have more luck!

Thanks again for your help,

Does any one know of a website where i can find information about merchant navy training ships?
My great uncle was sent onto a training ship when he and his siblings were taken to an orphanage (my great uncle was too old for the orphanage at the age of 14). It would of been around 1916, give or take a couple of years.
They were living in Northumberland at the time, but I don't know where the training ship would of been docked at?
Also, do you think that the training ship would of kept records of the boys they took in?

Thanks for any help,

On freebmd you can put the volume and page number into the search (the details that Joburg gave you).
I've found this -
Emily E Blencowe birth reg Dec 1866 Stoke D vol 5b pg 330,
so looks like the one Joburg mentioned could be yours. Couldn't find Alice's birth reg though.

Thanks for your advice.
I did manage to transfer all the info via the flash key thing and it has loaded all the information into the new format without any problems! I was so pleased that i didn't have to type it all out again!

Thankyou both for your help,
