Cambridgeshire / Re: Thomas Golding 1745 of Manea

Hi angeeil-
Nicola hasn't been on this site since 2009 so is unlikely to see your message (click on her name for her stats), but you could send her a personal message as it will send her an email assuming the email address is still current.  I have Goldings too, mainly from the Wisbech area, at least from about 1838 onwards, prior to that I'm a bit stuck.  I have discovered so far there are two very distinct Golding lines in Cambrisgeshire, the Wisbeach crew and another lot from Stow cum Quy.  Some of my Goldings also went to Manchester and ended up in the textile industry.  I'd be interested in talking to you so we could at least compare notes.

Thanks,
Brenda

Cambridgeshire / Re: marriage of Poole and Breeze
« on: Tuesday 22 March 11 17:46 GMT (UK)  »
This is an incredibly long shot for the marriage but it's all I can come up with!

Marriages Jun 1857
Brooks    Ann Matilda    Bethnal Gn    1c   623
Draper    Alfred         Bethnal Gn    1c   623
Pyle            William         Bethnal Gn    1c   623

I did a phonetic search on William Poole and came up with this record.  There should be two men and two women listed but one of the women has been missed off the record.  Might be worth tucking away just in case!

Hello Linda
Christchurch is about 4 miles South of Upwell which is East of March and right on the border of Norfolk and Cambridge.  There's at least three Breese/Breeze families in the Upwell area on the 1841 census and also in the birth records on the Cambridge FHS website (they have transcribed census info and birth/death records from 1800 - 1837).  Can't find any marriage info for Elizabeth or birth info for Ann, but I did find Elizabeths christening record to John and Susanna Breese on 09 Dec 1838 — Upwell, Norwich, Norfolk, England.  Upwell is often to be found in both the Cambridge and Norfolk records, or either, so if you can't find any info for this family in Cambridge try looking in Norfolk.  The Bishops Transcripts for Norfolk are on line for free at www.familysearch.org.

This is the family in 1841:
BREESE John    25    Upwell    HO107/78/20    6A
BREESE Susanna 24 Upwell
BREESE Mary Ann 5    Upwell
BREESE Elizabeth 2    Upwell
BREESE John    6m    Upwell

Hope you find something!

Regards
Brenda

Thanks for the support John and Shirl.  It's the BT's for the area that I've been using, I'll definitely have a look at the South Shields ones, see if there is any more info on that 1773 record.

Cheers,
Brenda

Durham / Elizabeth Ainsley, Felling Shore
« on: Wednesday 09 March 11 21:29 GMT (UK)  »
I've been trying without success, to find "my" Elizabeth Ainsley/Ainslie.  She married William Bewick at South Shields St Hilda's on 25 Dec 1796, they had 8 children chr between 1797 and 1812, and on most of these records the extra info is given that Elizabeth was from Felling Shore.  She was of the parish of St Hilda's on her marriage.  The Gateshead records start in 1769 so I'd hoped they'd captured her birth/chr but I came up with nothing, actually, I came up with not a single Ainsley at all and the records were quite good and very readable!

I'm about to start looking at St Hilda's, as they start in 1763 in the hope that she was actually born there.  Where else could I look given the info that I currently have?

Thanks
Brenda

Durham Completed Look up Requests / COMPLETE - Coundon 1851 Lookup - Cummin
« on: Tuesday 01 March 11 23:44 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone able to supply the full details of my ancestor, William Cummin from the 1851 census please?  He was born in Witton le Wear in 1788, his wife was Ann.  I have two birth references for children baptised in Etherley, near Bishop Aukland in 1815 and 1820.  Hoping to find his occupation and if there are any other members of the household etc.  This is the reference I have for him in 1851, hope it's correct!  Thanks in advance for any help.

William CUMMIN Age 61 Place of birth Witton Le Wear, DUR Piece/Folio 2385/394 Enumerated at Coundon, DUR

Hi Brenda,

I have links with Muncey family in Cambridgeshire wondering if it is the same family you are researching

T

Hello T
Sorry I didn't see this sooner.  My Muncey/Munsey family are from Stow cum Quy.  I have:

Benjamin Munsey c1740 married Mary Muggleton and had 4 daughters, Mercy 1764, Susan 1767, Mary 1770 and Sarah 1773.  Sarah married John Golding in SQC, not sure about the other daughters.

Hi Brenda,
Yes that's pretty definately my lot! James and Elizabeth's grandson had a middle name of Parker.
I keep on forgeting about IGI.
Thanks for that.
Tim

Tim,
Try this site too, part of the IGI site, they have the Bishops Transcripts for Durham & Northumberland, Simonburn is quite well represented, you might find your James.
