Last night, whilst having nothing better to do,I was perusing the internet and just by chance decided to Google a relatives name.

Guess what......I found postings on a site from someone in America asking for information on the same individual.

My Great-Uncle is his Grandfather.........wow,great excitement!!!!!  :) :) :)

Now,here come the rub.Unfortunately, but for reasons which I completely understand, the web site is not able to supply me with this persons E-mail address and he has not been in touch with them for some time. There is,however,a message on the site asking him to get in touch, via E-mail,as they may have information for him.To my disappontment he has not contacted them.

How can I trace this individual in the U.S.A.?.

I have posted messages to the Rootsweb Message Boards and I have tried E-mailing the city/area,via the city web site, where he lives but that was returned undelivered, as I was not authorised to E-mail them.

I have had one reply to my posting on Rootsweb Message Boards but that was only to advise me to try a certain County.

Suggestions/ideas please as to how I may trace this person, assuming I don't receive any positive replies to my messages and he does not get in touch with the UK site again.
 :) :) :)

Wales / Not Good News.......
« on: Saturday 30 July 05 15:18 BST (UK)  »
It seems that the North Wales Family History Fair, normally held at Llandudno during Septemeber, will not go ahead this year.

This is due to the conference centre having a face lift and the available accommodation not being large enough to host the event.

Next years event, however, should go ahead as normal.
 >:( :(

I did post this last night but due to gremlins in the system it has disappeared................

The Common Room / What's in a name?.
« on: Thursday 21 April 05 19:00 BST (UK)  »
My great grandfather,a Baptist and a police officer, appears to have used, from time to time,a middle name which appears to have been a name of convenience,as it was not used all the time.
The name he used was RECHAB.
This was a mystery for a while until I visited a museum in Llanidloes,Montgomeryshire where he was married. It was there I found some information in respect of the Order of Rechabites.
A search of the internet revealed information on Rechab and the tribe of Rechabites, both of which are in the Bible.
However, the most interesting thing about this tribe was that they renounced alcohol to such an extent that they did not even cultivate the vine.
Further information on the Order of Rechabites revealed that they were a Friendly Society and people who became members had to renounce the use of alcohol,i.e.take the pledge.
As my great grandfather was a Baptist, I have not been able,as yet,to locate his baptism to ascertain if this was a given name when he was baptised;it is not on his birth and marriage certificates and appears only on some of his childrens birth and death certificates.
I am assuming that he was a member of the Order of Rechabites and therefore used the name Rechab as a middle name to signify this...........but only when it suited him;or am I being a little cynical?.
Has anyone else found the use of this name at all or have any family connections to the Rechabites?.

Lancashire / Do YOU know this man?
« on: Saturday 09 April 05 18:26 BST (UK)  »
In 1929 my Great-Uncle,John David Thomas Humphreys,Baptist Minister, accepted an invitation to the ministry of Eccleshill.
I am assuming this was Eccleshill,Blackburn as he had previously been working in the Manchester area.
He died in October,1930 and was,I believe, buried in his home country of Wales.
I have tried to trace his death via LancashireFreeBMD,but he is not listed and his death is not registered at Blackburn Register Office.
Is there anyone out there who can assist me in any way whatsoever in relation to this person? :) :) ;)
I have obtained a copy of his obit.from the Baptist Handbook of 1931 and it is from that I have gleaned most of my information.
If it is of any assitance my Great-Uncle was a Particular Baptist. If anyone knows the current local Baptist Minister...perhaps he/she could help.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kazza,

2.The funeral/internment of John who died,I am given to believe,on 04.10.1930,but not in Wales, and was buried at Dolau Cemetery(?)in Radnorshire.
Anything at all would be appreciated. :) :) :)
I know I refer to Radnorshire, but Madeline was a Brecknock girl and they may have made the press next door.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / HUMPHREYS:Llangollen
« on: Saturday 26 March 05 22:03 GMT (UK)  »
In the 1881 census David Humphreys,75yrs,his wife Elizabeth,71yrs,son Evan,40yrs and daughter Mary,28yrs,all born in Newtown,Montgomeryshire are residing in Regent St,Llangollen.
Elizabeth died 1882 and David died 1884 at an unidentified address in Church St,Llangollen. His death was registered by his daughter Mary.I await death cert of Elizabeth.
My query is twofold:
1.Census check 1891 for Mary and Evan--I have lost both in the 1901.Presumably Mary has married and Evan deceased?.
2.Does anyone have MI's for the area and, ifso, are the above David and Elizabeth included.
Any information would be most appreciated..... :) :) :) ;)
Further to the above,I have now found that Elizabeths death was registered by Emily Mary Hurst,Grand daughter.
I cannot trace her anywhere in the 1881 census so if the name rings a bell.....................
