The Common Room / Challenge... the WDYTYA expert was of no help

I have been working on this for some time but with no success, and the expert at the Who do you think show was of no help.
My GG Grandfather and his wife seems to disappear and I cannot find out where. This is the information I have, and upon reading this... maybe someone out there will find out something else.

The people in question are:
Herbert Janvrin Vincent b. 14 Feb 1855 in Batley, Yorkshire.
He marries Agnes Claudia Louisa Friedburg ( sometimes spelt with two e s) in New Zealand in 1876 ( I need to confirm the date, marriage certificate has just arrived from NZ). They are back in England for 1881 (in Croydon) with young children (Frederick Janvrin Vincent and Herbert Friedburg Janvrin Vincent). Third son Harold is born a couple of years later but also seems to disappear. The two eldest children end up living in Jersey with their Grandfather in 1891 but there is no record of the parents.
After much search I found out that HFJ Vincent (one of the sons) ends up going to South Africa and dies in 1939 and is buried in Maitland Cemetery. The other son (my GGrandfather lives until 1918). I have the marriage certificate for Frederick Janvrin Vincent and his father is listed as deceased as of that date (1903). Therefore, the father, Herbert Janvrin Vincent, born 1855, dies sometime between 1881 and 1903.... as for the mother... who knows.
Hope this makes sense, it's really hard to find out what happened to him, even though it is not that long ago.

I am trying to confirm who my Great Great Grandfather married. I have searched all of the records and I know that he marries an Elizabeth based on the census returns. The Thomas Walton in 1881 is certainly correct, as he was a professor of music, which is confirmed by my great grandfather's marriage certificate. He was born about 1838 and was in the staffordshire/ wolverhampton/ west bromwich area. According to the 1881 he was married to Elizabeth, and I have one side of the family who think he married Elizabeth Morton/ Moreton. The problem I have is that a Thomas Walton did marry a Elizabeth Morton in 1867, but I don't think this is the one. I have got two marriage certificates, one for an Elizabeth Mor(e)ton and one for Elizabeth Brooks, but the more I look at them the more I think they are wrong.
The next stage I am at, and this is my question... could it be possible that Thomas Walton married an Elizabeth in 1859, which would fit, but on the marriage register it would list her as Sarah Elizabeth Walton. Normally, don't the registers have the maiden name? I have come across second names being used as their main name later in censuses so despite having Sarah as a listed name, it could well be the correct one. They refer to the same volume, and I have checked that the other two people on the same page did marry each other... therefore according to the marriage record... Thomas Walton married Sarah Elizabeth Walton.
I assume the only way of confirming is to order the certificate?

There is a mystery with these two, my GG Grandparents, who disappear from the records. HJV was born in 1855 and ACV was born abt. 1854. One of their sons ends up in South Africa and dies in 1939, and that refers to his parents but does not mention if they settled. HJV had travelled and other parts of the family went to NZ, Aus and USA but I cannot find out when they died. No one in the family seems to know.
Boer War could be an option but does not explain why both disappear. South Africa could be an option as their records are not extensively online yet, and therefore hard to find.

Anyone help?

If anyone has any information on any persons with the name Janvrin Vincent as part of their name, please get in touch. I have found a link from South Africa but that is about it at the moment.

I am struggling to put this together.

Herbert Janvrin Vincent married Agnes Friedburg (the spelling on this varies). They had children Herbert Frederick Janvrin Vincent and Frederick Augustus Janvrin Vincent, who ended up living with their grandfather in Jersey in 1891. They are in the 1881 census (in Croydon) but that is the last record I have for them. Nothing showing up on any death lists. I think I am going to track down the marriage certificate for the son, as this will show whether the father of the groom was alive or deceased at their marriage - Frederick and Agnes Laughland married in 1903.
They had previously spent time abroad and it is strange that the children lived with the grandparents in Jersey in 1891.

Anyone able to help?

I am struggling to find out what happened to this person. I have him on a census in 1891, in Jersey, when he was 12 (b. 1879) but he does not seem to appear on 1901 or 1911, and I have not found him on a death list as yet. Many of his relatives went abroad, and indeed he was born 'at sea'. However, due to the unusual Janvrin name (that is the correct spelling, it is from Jersey) someone out there may know something.
