There's one list for S. Africa/ Natal which puts an H. Vincent in the 13 Hussars (Death). Looking further into it.

That could be a possibility. He was with his grandfather in Jersey in 1891, just seems to disappear after that. I will have to investigate.

I am struggling to find out what happened to this person. I have him on a census in 1891, in Jersey, when he was 12 (b. 1879) but he does not seem to appear on 1901 or 1911, and I have not found him on a death list as yet. Many of his relatives went abroad, and indeed he was born 'at sea'. However, due to the unusual Janvrin name (that is the correct spelling, it is from Jersey) someone out there may know something.

Keith, it certainly is very close to the border so that sounds a possibility. How did you come up with the name Te Loy. The other information I have from the National records was that Godfrey had come to England some '50 years since', which would be around 1775.

Ok, so here's the other post. I had a look at the other post where you all went on a virtual pub crawl.

I have got all the way back to Godfrey Lloyds but similarly find it difficult to go further back than that. Did you get any details about his marriage to Sarah Long, i.e. do we know whether there is a certificate in London? I do not live to far away and could go into town to the more local record offices. BTW, what is your interest in Godfrey, is he a distant relative?
I assume the pub, the Hoop and Adze, later the Crown, is not longer there.

Keith, I am researching my family tree and I see you are very interested in the Lloyds family. My Grandmother was a Lloyds. Perhaps you can help with Godfrey Lloyds?
