Hi to all, I live in New Zealand and have yet to find another McGoverne (with an e) who is a relative. Just wondering if there are any others out there?  Tracy.

Hi Andrea, thank you for the reply re McGovernes with an (e) Our family seem to be the only McGovernes with that particular spelling here in New Zealand, and as far as I can see there arent many others n England with the same spelling. I think it doesnt have so much to do with illiteracy as such, maybe someone deliberately changed the spelling for some reason? It has fascinated my family for quite some time. We feel quite alone in the world of McGoverns (no e)

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Any Beaumonts from Cleckheaton

Hi, Im new to Rootschat, and am looking for any Beaumonts from Cleckheaton. My Great Grandmother Emily Beaumont, parents, Samuel and Nancy Beaumont. Samuel was apparently a Manufacturing Engineer.
Emily married Frederick Edward McGoverne in 1901 and they emigrated to New Zealand in or about 1904.
Nancy Beaumonts maiden name was Gomersall. I hope there is someone out there with the same names as Im looking for.  Tracy.

Hi, New to Rootschat, and looking for any Bacons. My Great x 2 Grandmother was Sophia Ann Bacon, born c1837-1839 Ipswich. Father William Bacon, Mother Elizabeth Jeffries.
Sophia Ann Bacon was a Schoolmistress in the Royal Artillery as was her husband, Robert William McGoverne, Born Scotland.  Much thanks in advance if anyone has a connection to these people and can shed any light on them for me.   Tracy.

Essex / McGoverne with an (e) on the end?

New to Rootschat, and hoping to find any other McGovernes with an (e) on the end of the name. So far I have found only 1 other family group with this particular spelling, and I cant link them. My ancestor was born in Scotland, 1838, the other McGoverne was born in Ireland, yet he was younger than my ancestor?
The name appears to be Irish, so I am assuming the family came from Ireland to Scotland.
I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
Much thanks in advance. Tracy.
Other names:  Bacon:  Sudbury, Ipswich, Suffolk

Hello, Im new to Rootschat, and would appreciate a lookup for Robert William McGoverne. The only info I have on him is from 1881 Census, detail, born Scotland, 1838.
McGoverne is defintely spelt with an (e) on the end. Many thanks in advance. Tracy.
