Thank you Brian.  I am off to France tomorrow to visit family and will be with a relative who is much better at this than me, so between us we may find out more with the information you have given.  Can I ask where you found it so I may have a look?  Cheers Susie  :)

World War Two / Trying to Find Grandfathers details - POW WW2
« on: Friday 06 August 10 18:56 BST (UK)  »
The story of my grandfather being with NZ Capt Upton would mean he was either taken Prisoner in Crete during 1941 or at El Alemaine(Egypt) in which case he would have probably started his time as a POW in Italy and then been moved up to Germany. I am wondering if all POW's were debriefed when they were repatriated to England and the records are available to see somewhere?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dave

I found a certificate of discharge on demobilization but that just said what she was in the WRAF, her number and how long.  Maybe that is it and I won't find out anything more.  I would like to know more and what she did after she left.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards Sue

John August 1833-1879
Henry August 1835-1900
Rachel August 1837-1907
Frederick August 1839-1928
Stephen August 1841-1842
Charles August 1843-1879
Mary August 1846-1848

Sarah Ann August 1851-1921

Rachel married Chauncy Richardson in Nebraska in 1859.  They later lived in Lanesboro, Fillmore County, Minnesota.

I would like to find the descendants of the above, any help would be greatly appreciated.  The August's originated in Ringwood, Hampshire in England and moved out to the USA in the mid 1850's.

Wow I am loving this, thank you!  I am feeling enthusiastic again and so much to look at its very exciting.  This side of my family emigrated and we just did not have any information apart from a small bit that did not really help much.   :)
