Gloucestershire / Re: The Grange, Minsterworth

When the Grange Hotel was knocked down in the late 1960s, the land was bought by neighbouring Duni Farm, situated on the A48 where the road runs close to the river Severn. The rear garden wall is still standing as are the scots pines.  In its day was quite an imposing Victorian building.  The land is now bounded by a conifer hedge to the roadside.

Hope this helps.

Have you checked the Forest of Dean Family History site?

Fantastic free resource, all you need do is register.

Hi Croad

Have a look at
The marriages have been indexed, looks like Walter Beard married Eliza A. Ford.

Births for the date you need haven't been indexed as yet, however, FreeBMD has the birth of Doris Louisa Beard December qtr. 1907, Stroud, 6a/343.

Sending for the birth certificate of Doris will confirm her mother's maiden name and hence that the marriage above is the correct one.  Certificates can be purchased from

Gloucestershire / Re: which village churches?

Hi Steve

Longcroft Farm (previous home of Cadles?); Morwents Farm (Grange Court Road, Adsett); Brimstones (Church Lane, Northwood Green); Brooke Farm also Church Lane, Adsett end.

St. Peter and St. Paul Westbury on Severn.  Flaxley and Blaisdon are within the Westbury parish but also have their own Church.  Northwood Green has a small mission church (no graveyard).

Hope this helps with your visit

Hi Andy

What a great photo.  My grandfather often talked about his cousin Walter the cricketer, he was very proud!  Although he moved with his parents to Aston Birmingham when he was six Northamptonshire was always home.

I have a photograph of my great grandfather George Knight, brother of your great great grandmother Ellen Buswell (nee Knight), if you're interested plus lots of other Knight information.

When you have posted one more message we can exchange email addresses by personal message.

Have worked out we are 3rd cousins once removed!
