Lancashire / Re: Irish in Ancoats

Not in Ancoats, but in Motzart Street, Lavender Street and then Redditch!! ::)

Trying to trace my great-grandmother born in Queens County in 1853 married in Manchester Cathedral 1873 to William Mather.   Can't find her exact birthplace and would like to know when and how she came to Manchester.

Any ideas?

Laois (Queens) / KELLY of Laois

My great-grandmother Sarah Kelly was born in Queens County in 1853 and married in Manchester in 1873.  That's all I know about her.  I can't get a birth certificate as there are many Sarah Kelly's and I don't know which one she is and I would like to find out when she came to England.

Any ideas?

Yes thanks, I do know that she never married, lived with my grandfather and mother for a short time and that's why she ended up in the workhouse.

Thanks very much for your help and suggestions. Harry died 1955 was my grandfather not 1957 and I can't work out who Fanny was unless it was a shortened version for Florence and I have a death date of 1923 for young  Lucy and I know she died young so I don't think the 1969 death is the right one.  You are probably right for the elder Lucy.

Thanks again.

Also any information on Henry (Harry) born 1882?
