The Common Room / Marriage - Mary Parker to Mr Austin Mr Waller
« on: Wednesday 01 September 10 11:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Can anyone find a marriage for me.  I have a birth certificate for my great aunt and it says that her mother was Jennie Waller late Austin formerley Parker.

I believe that she may be called Mary, but I can't find a marriage for her as Jennie or Mary under any of the surnames anywhere. ???

I have no other information other than I believe she was an actress (smalltime probably) and may have used the name Mary Austin.

Help anywhere would be appreciated.

Thanks Mo

"Soldiers who died in the great war 1914-1919" shows he was born London and enlisted London, but CWGC show his parants in Bolton Lancashire?
Maybe try the 1911 free search with him in the London area?
Was he married around this time?

Migky ;)

Thanks I shall try that.  I have an address for his wife in Bolton, Lancashire.  He married Grace Cooke in 1908 Hartlepool (at least I think so, that if his first name was Richard James and not just James and he was an actor.  Otherwise I'm barking up the wrong tree.  ::)

Thanks

Mo ,

I looked him up under surname and the service number you gave.
The date of entry is on his medal index card.

Phil

Oh! yes, I can see that 15.8.14 so he must have gone straight to the 5 Stationary Hospital Le Mans as this seemed to be in operation only from September to December.

I really would like to know if he was Richard James and not just James as on his medal card.  It would also be good to know his profession. ? Actor.

Many Thanks for your help.

Hi.
thanks.

I don't know where he was on the 1911 census.  I don't have access to it.

When you looked up his date of entry, was it under the name of Richard James or just James?

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help me.  I'm trying to find out information on Richard James Waller, (called himself James) Regiment No 19407 - Royal Army Medical Corps.  I have found his medal record and know that he died in France and have details of his burial via the Commonwealth War Grave Commission, but I can't find any service records as I am trying to find out his profession.

Thanks

So true greensleeves.

I've only been doing this a couple of years and have a good idea of who everyone is, but I'd love to find out how they lived.

My husband keeps saying "haven't you finished that yet" ::), but I don't think I ever will.  It's addictive.

Thanks Dazey999

I found the information about The Stage in the archives and it does give their address as 16 York St, Covent Garden and also Carson and Comerford Ltd (the owners) for the same address.  Mary Austin's address was c/o so obviously she used it as a posting station when she travelled.

I have also found her (I think) on a listing as Mary Austin in a play called "He's a Jolly Good Fellow playing Hester Denvers, but I've got a lot of trawling through the archives yet.  Not found Richard (James) Waller yet, although I did come across a Lewis Waller (but, maybe I'm clutching at straws here.

Thanks for the information regarding Richard and Grace's marriage.  It fits beautifully with the information I have from his war record.

Many thanks  :)
