Hi Jennifer thankyou for your reply, [after a couple of years].
You don't know me, but we are related, I am a Vincent by birth, and your Great-Grandmother, Agnes Vincent, [dec], was a sister to my Grandfather Arthur Royden Vincent. [dec], Agnes, [dec], married Charles Cyril Smith. [dec],.
I knew that your father had died, as I subscribe to most Tasmanian newspapers, and as I was going down to Tassie on holidays I thought I would do the rounds and pay respect to my ancestors, at their gravestones. [I live in Townsville so I don't get down to Tassie very often]. all that said, I didn't get to see their headstones to pay that respect, after all.
Both my brother and I were adopted out at birth in 1949, and it was only in the past few years I was able to trace family members.
My reason for researching the history of my birth family is because of a serious medical condition within the Vincent family known as neurofibromatosis.
Henry Vincent, father to both [Agnes and Arthur], had a total of 15 children. He passed this neurofibromatosis gene on to at least half of his children. It is a dominant condition which means it only takes one partner carrying that gene to pass it on. Unlike a recessive gene, which takes both parties carrying the same gene to pass it on. it still prevails in todays generations despite Henry's first child was born in 1876. Up until now after about 8 years researching the Vincent family Agnes, your Great Grand-mother, seems to have missed inheriting this condition.
It [the condition], has killed many Vincent family members, including both my daughters aged 30 & 35 years of age respectively.
Once again thankyou for your reply.
Kind regards
George Purdie
