I have also posted this on the Lancashire board

https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=829551.new#new

I have all other info on this couple except a marriage.  Both were born in Monmouthshire but all 3 of their children were born in Liverpool between 1868-1874.  Henry died in Liverpool 1879

In 1861 Fanny was still in Usk Monmouthshire

Fanny is shown as Frances Lucas on the 1841 census but on all later censuses and on her re-marriage in 1886 & 1906 death reg she is Fanny

She re-married 1886 to Hugh McClements and is shown as a widow on the marriage cert

I am beginning to think they never married

The Common Room / Anybody else having Family Search problems on Apple iPad?
« on: Thursday 19 December 19 23:19 GMT (UK)  »
About 3 IOS updates ago - I could no longer access FS.  Had no problems previously and thought it may have been corrected with the next update - but it hasn’t

If I input www.familysearch.org - I get the main page without problem

However - if I then select “Search” then “Records” The search page loads then fades out.  It then reloads and fades again then the following message appears

A problem repeatedly occurred on https://www.familysearch.org/search/.  In the URL it shows Web page crashed

iPad is running IOS 13.3 which is the latest update

Is anybody else having problems with FS today?  www.familysearch.org/search

I'm using my iPad and have never had a problem before.  The search page loads - although the login side screen is missing and replaced by a map.

It won’t allow input and then auto reloads twice more before I get a message saying “a problem repeatedly occurred on www.familysearch.org” and the tab on my iPad shows “web page crashed”

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Lancashire RO marriage lookup request
« on: Friday 28 December 18 16:53 GMT (UK)  »
I am helping a friend with his FH and have hit a problem with one of his female relatives.  I have not given her full name in case she is still alive as she was probably born in the 1920’s but I cannot find a death under her married name

Per Lancsbmd and freebmd - December qtr 1946 at Immanuel Church Oswaldtwistle - Samuel MacLachlan married KH.  (Lancsbmd have his surname mistranscribed as MachLachlan)

www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

Samuel was born 1924 and died 1999.   No childrens births found.  KH is not the 1920 or 1926 birth so I wonder if she was a young widow

Is anybody going to Preston RO who could look up the marriage to see if K was a widow and who her father was?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Parish record lookup - Marriage All Saints Childwall 1839
« on: Wednesday 07 November 18 17:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am helping a friend with his FH and one of his ancestors married September qtr 1839 at All Saints Childwall.  Thomas Ireland to Mary Lawton

I can't find a transcription on Ancestry or any of the usual sites showing his fathers name and would be grateful for a lookup if anybody is going to the RO.

Request on hold.  Just found new info which suggests the above are not the right ancestors

US Lookup Requests / Advice re info available from USAF
« on: Monday 05 November 18 18:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can somebody advise if the USAF would release any personal info to enable contact with living relatives in the following circumstances.

In 1945, a married US serviceman fathered a child with a married English woman whilst stationed at RAF Manston.

He made contact with the child some years later and there was an exchange of phone calls and letters which then stopped for personal reasons.  His wife was aware of the child's existence.

It’s quite likely the serviceman is now deceased but he had several children (names known) and the child born in England would like to make contact with their half siblings.

Cork / Birth/Bapt for Margaret Gertrude Regan or O'Regan born 27.4.1872 Passage West
« on: Tuesday 07 November 17 00:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My husbands maternal grandmother's birthdate has just been found on the 1939 register - 27.4.1872.

She married James Leonard Thompson in February 1898 as Maggie Gertrude Regan - father Patrick occ farmer (deceased).  1901 entry shows her as Maggie G

1911 -  birthplace is Passage West County Cork and she is Margaret

1939 register - Margaret      1957 death - Margaret

My husband says she was O'Regan but dropped the O' when she came to England.  There is no proof of this.

The family were Roman Catholic but I cannot match her birthdate to any baptisms online.

Can any baptism be found?  If not - is it possible to pay the Irish GRO for a search of birth registrations using the info I have?

FS has a birth entry for a Margaret O Regan in Cork 1872 but no quarter is shown and I don't know whether the O is actually a middle name or a mistranscription
