Family History Beginners Board / Re: Local GRO Index Access for Birmingham
« on: Friday 22 March 24 21:08 GMT (UK)  »

So I think I need to now double check the 'Local' Gro's.  I'm just not sure where I do that.
My guess would be they might be accessible in Birmingham Library.  Can anyone confirm that?

Grateful for any pointers.  New to all this

The registers held at the local District Registry use a different indexing system to the GRO.
Local registers are sent quarterly to the GRO.

GRO Marriage Registers have 2 marriages per page - so 4 names.
Older registers can have 3 marriages per page!

Arnos Vale is/was a private burial ground. It is not covered by Bristol City Council.

You need to contact Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust.

Or email: info@arnosvale.org.uk

I posted on last week's thread in error! :-[

Traffic chaos today!
Roads closed for the visit of Queen Camilla, who will be conferring City status on Douglas.

It's affecting my usual coffee morning with a small group of friends.
And I will have to delay a trip to Tesco until tomorrow.

I won't be going to see her.
Can't park anywhere close, and my balance issue won't let me walk that far!

As you know their actual dates of death - have you contacted Glouc records office for info.

archives@gloucestershire.gov.uk.

For Bristol, contact cems.crems@bristol.gov.uk

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: Death Elizabeth MacDonald, July 26, 1932

Thank you KGarrad for verification of Elizabeth’s marriage to Henry W. Bailey. As for the link to Annie, perhaps Elizabeth’s death certificate would give Elizabeth’s date and exact place of birth and an obituary might name living relatives which could lead to Annie’s family line.

Date and place of birth were added to death certificates from 1969.

Not quite sure what the death of Elizabeth (as in Subject Title) has to do with the rest of your query?
