Staffordshire / William Bannister
« on: Tuesday 21 April 20 13:03 BST (UK)  »

I have hit a brick wall when it comes to identifying the parents of William Bannister b 1818 ( aprox ) d 1903. He was a Chain manufacturer --information from census returns. These returns give his birth as Cradley Heath in Staffordshire .
I found one possible christening 10.5.1818 Penkridge-- parents Thomas and Elizabeth. Sorry dont
know the area so this may be nowhere near Cradley.

He married Mary Ann Barnsley on 9 Dec 1939 Dudley Staffs-.( I am ok with her line backwards)  They have at least 6 children, Sarah 1840-42,Jessie 1844,Elizabeth 1846,Sarah 1848, William,1850 and Mary Ann 1850s.  I am ok with going forward  but would like to discover who and where his parents are or any of his siblings.

Appreciate any information. Thank you .

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Mary Ann Flood latter Dyson
« on: Tuesday 14 April 20 08:48 BST (UK)  »
Mary Ann Flood marries John Dyson on 18 May 1866  at Bradford. On the 1871 census and latter ones  her place of birth is given as Queens county Ireland or Ireland . Date of birth swings about but around 1840-1844. Name of father on marriage certificate given as Thomas  Flood ,occupation a cabinet maker
Possible death for Mary 1913 Bradford.

Have not been able to find Mary on an early census and of course its possible she did come to England until a few years before her marriage .  Any information appreciated . Its asking a lot I know . Struggling to track down her birth even with the super Irish archive .
Thank you .

Derry (Londonderry) / Tracing English families that where in Co Londonderry 1630
« on: Sunday 09 February 20 11:51 GMT (UK)  »
I recently purchased the reprinted book  Men and Arms on the Ulster Settlers 1630 by R.J Hunter and prepared by John Jonston . My understanding was that IN Co Londondery Sir Thomas Philips would settle small numbers --perhaps 25 families at a time on the land. I was interested to find on the Muster two John Latham's for the area . One with Sword and Caliver and one listed as as bearing no arms. Most likely the same family .
I am wondering how to find out from were this Latham family came from/ and what trade they may have had or giving the lack of records even follow them forward. Perhaps there are other publications I should look at . I am not local so visits to Proni would not be an option. Grateful for any pointers.

Many Thanks

Down / Place of Burial Christina McKinley
« on: Friday 17 January 20 11:46 GMT (UK)  »
Christina McKinley died on 22/9/1946 at Lough Money near Downpatrick Co Down. Not sure how to find out were she was buried. The only address I have for the family is from the 1911 Census when they lived at 4,Carrowvanny Raholp near Downpatrick. Her husband William died 26/7/1944--again I dont know were he is buried. Not sure if Church of Ireland or Presbyterian . The Burial records  site  on line for N Ireland only relate to the 3 main graveyards in Belfast --so no clues there.
Keen to try and find out were they are buried as would like to visit the area.

Many Thanks.
