Canada / Frank Towers Ontario
« on: Tuesday 03 December 19 15:10 GMT (UK)  »
Frank Towers was born 29 Jan 1881 Salisbury, England and on 3/11/1927 went to Canada arriving 11/11/ 1927 in Quebec. He goes to stay with his brother Alfred James Towers. Franks wife stayed in England.

Record on Ancestry shows Frank died 21/11/1942 in York ,Toronto . His son George Towers was the informant. His address given as RCAF station S?enton---such bad writing I wonder if someone could help with the name of the station and perhaps how I could find out Georges service number.

I have not been able to find where Frank Towers was buried and wonder if someone could help on that . I think the undertakers were Mathews Burial services but again writing is hard to read--sorry. Any other information on Frank Towers appreciated.

Thank You .

Fermanagh / Bryans/Fawcett Family Derrylea Co Fermanagh
« on: Friday 19 July 19 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Seeking more information on the family of Alexander Bryans and Ellen Fawcett. He is on the 1901 Irish census with his wife and family of 7 children. But he  dies 1904.
On the 1911 Irish census Ellen is at Derrylea,Mullaghboy, with 4 of her children ---
Robert aged 35,Emily 33,Ellen Eliza 30 and Mary Maud 20.

Of the other children ---Alexander b 23/7/1885 went to Ontario Canada and Married Leana Platzer.
Catherine Susan born Nov 1884--may have  married but dont know to whom .
Margaret Anne b 1870 may also have married.

Any information would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks.

Not sure whether  i should post on this board or Co Fermanagh Ireland.Hoping someone can help.

Robert Bryans was born about 1843 in  Gallon in Co Fermanagh and dies I believe  25/12/1879 Philadelphia.
His parents Alexander Bryans and Mary Anne Bussell are  from Co Fermanagh, Ireland --but they did not move to America.
I believe a record on  the document Pennsylvania wills and probate 1683-1993 on Ancestry  is for him. Document Signed by a Henry Byrans --a brother born around 1851 Ireland and i think his brother in law Thomas Irvine married to Roberts sister Isabella.
Will talks about his wife Eliza--but who is she and were did they married?? Ireland or America/Canada. I only list Canada as often folks travelled there first. But I have no shipping records.
Will mentions son Alexander--but when and were was he born. Will also mentions children--but do  not  name them.
Sorry no further information . Keen to learn more about Robert  and his family.
Many thanks.

Armagh / Martha Ross
« on: Thursday 06 June 19 11:40 BST (UK)  »
I would like to establish the correct date of Birth for Martha Ross from Bessbrook Co Armagh  and therefore who her parents are ..
I know her father was James Ross 1838-1886 . Her mother ( depending on Marthas DOB)  could be Mary Boyd 1835-1909 or a unknown ist wife perhaps Johnson.

There are different dates given for Martha depending on what records you look at.
A number of trees have her DOB as 1858. Her Father James marries in 1860 and goes on to have a number of other children. So was he married before. His DOB is a guess .

On the 1901 Irish census return for Mullaglass, Armagh she is shown as 33 and living with Mary ( a widow) and her brother William James Ross(24) . On the 1911 return Martha is  in Belfast . Age 45. Living at Hillman street with her brother William  James shown as 32.
I have checked groni and can find no birth record for her.
On 3/3/1925 she marries David Bell at Townsland Presbyterian Church. Record on Groni.

Martha dies 23/4/1942 aged 79 ? Belfast. The record is  on Groni and her age is from the information on it. Her brother James T Ross is the informant. Her husband dies latter that year 16/9/1942 and James T Ross is the informant.
And now another possible age for Martha. On the gravestone inscription at Bessbrook Presbyterian Church  Martha Bell ( nee Ross ) her age is given as 82.

So i hope you can understand why i am a little confused.
As i said i would like to establish --as close as possible-- Martha's date of birth and therefore parents. I  am also interested in any information about her brother William James Ross who is aged 32 on the 1911 census .

Very many Thanks.

From her marriage certificate we know her father was  James McCormac  a labourer.   I have tried looking at Groni but have not identified a death for him or his daughter. Sorry dont know her mothers name or any of her siblings.
Would like to find out more about this McCormac family in Co Tryone if possible.
