Hi Rena, thank you for your comments. I guess that at times people fitted in more than one job and possibly the children helped. Growing some veg for the family and then selling off some surplus may have just opened up an opportunity. Thanks Mark

Many thanks Ciderdrinker for the information , you have been most helpful in the past as well. Weaver to a grocer must be a rare change and intriging about how he shares out. The other Hoskins must very likely be related and thanks for bringing to my attention. Thank you again,  Mark

James Hoskins 1755-1819 married Martha Mullens in Gillingham on the 7-8-1780. I am having difficulty finding anything about his parents or other decendants. I was told that he was bapt at Silton on the 11/7/1756 but I can't find on the Dorset OPC, FreeReg, Find My Past or Family Search. I ssume James was a labourer but I can't find any info's on baptisms, death or marriage records to confirm. Any help would be greatfully received. Thanks Mark

Hi Quennie, I wasn't going to look at emails on Christmas Day, but just had a sneaky look and found out that you had posted the extremely helpful info which just leaves the Coleman side for me to understand. Thank you so much and have a lovely Christmas.  Mark

I am having real problems finding the backrounds/parents/siblins of Edward Garret 1796-1872 and his wife Elizabeth  Coleman 1816-1894. It seems Edward was born at Yamfield which was Somerset and now Wiltshire and close to Maiden Bradley and Elizabeth in the Castle Cary/Bruton area. I have a note that they married in 1816 but can't find it. Many thanks for any help.  Mark

Thank you and you have tracked her death down. I had looked for her on the 1901 census but she appears to be missing but thank you so much.  Mark
