Thank you so much for all that wedding info.  The Rogers family seems to have been quite something!New names to be investigated.  Hugh & Mary's children are another mystery, I would love to be able to get in touch with one of them ...  wishful thinking!
Many thanks again,
Liz

Canada / Edmund (Edmond) JOHNSTON 1820-1882

Hello Rootschatters, I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these strange times.

A couple of years ago I posted a message on the Chicago page about this great great uncle of mine.  He was born in Ireland, son of Benjamin Johnston & Catherine nee Graydon. He died in Cook, Chicago in 1882. However, he left Ireland in 1837 on the ss George Washington, stopping in New York, bound for Canada.
I have since discovered that he had a daughter , Isabella M. Johnston, who married Warren S. EDES in Nov 1871 in Chicago.  Isabella was apparently born in 1851 in Belleville, Hastings, Ontario. She was Edmund's second daughter.  She died in 1931 and is buried in La Grange,Cook.

I have also found Edmund's wife's death, in La Grange, Cook, Chicago in March 1893. Anne nee Summers.  She was aged 70, born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I cannot find any information in the Canadian records available... Did Edmund & Anne marry in Canada?  I cannot find Isabella's birth in Belleville.  Or her elder sister??

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Best regards, Liz Augereau,
Cognac, France

I have lots and lots of Johnston threads, on both sides of my family !!

However, Isaac Johnston & his family lived in the city of Armagh on the Mall.  It just so happens that I discovered his parents, William & Rachel Johnston, living on a farm in Middletown, Co Armagh.  That is about 5 miles from Armagh city. In the 1901 & 1911 census, Isaac is living in Armagh city but he has a list of siblings living in Middletown.
On both census Isaac was born in Co Tyrone and all the others in Middletown, Co ARmagh.  That is why I would like to find out why Isaac was born in Tyrone!!
