Northamptonshire / Re: bit of a difficult one (Mary Ann Smith b.1863 Northampton)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your patience and for the extra info on your family. For the record, the 1911 Census shows that Frank and Annie had 8 children (not 7 as you believe) though only 7 were still alive then. I have a Daisy born c1903 in my tree but no source and cannot find a birth or death that fits, but then I cannot find births for Flora, Clement and Ronald either...

On to your real search, and, before someone comes along to say it, this is all based on transcriptions and indexes and you should really check the original records to be sure...

Robert Smith was christened at Easton Maudit on 24 Mar 1811 son of Thomas and Mary. He married Mary Denham (or Dunham) at Ramsey, Hunts on 01 Nov 1830. Mary was born at Ramsey on 27 Feb 1813 and baptised there 21 Mar 1813, daughter of Jacob and Caroline. Robert was buried at Eaton Maudit on 15 Feb 1875 while Mary was buried there on 05 May 1867.

Robert's father Thomas was christened at Easton Maudit on 13 Jul 1777, son of Joseph and Mary. With his first wife Elizabeth he had at least one child, Lydia, who was christened at Easton Maudit on 15 Aug 1802. Married second wife Mary Luck at Easton Maudit on 20 Jan 1809. Mary was christened at Easton Maudit on 18 May 1772, daughter of Robert and Sarah. Children Susannah, John, George, Zilpah, Zenas and Caroline. Thomas was buried at Easton Maudit on 05 Dec 1811 while Mary was buried there on 13 Mar 1840.

Thomas's father Joseph was christened at Easton Maudit on 25 Dec 1751, son of Peter and Mary. Children of Joseph and Mary were John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Hannah, Mary, and Peter.

Thomas's father Peter and his wife Mary had at least one other child, Peter born at Easton Maudit 23 Jul 1748 and christened there 01 Aug 1748.

Hope this is helpful. Once you have answered this message we can exchange personal messages which we must do if we are talking about living, or potentially living, people.

Regards,
Paul

Dear TommyRugrat,

Please bear with me for a few days and I think I will be able to take you back 3 or 4 generations. I'd like to recheck some of the tree against other information to make sure that I am not leading you up the garden path (Smith is a little too common a name). I have some information on various descendants but I curiously seem to have nothing on your Cyril or Lawrence...
I hope you can stand the suspense...be back to you as soon as work gets out of the way!

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Re: Fanny E Smart Marriage 1915

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for your kind offer. I have Alan Clarke's Indexes so probably have the majority of the older information. If I do need anything it will be more recent, such as Fanny's marriage. I will start a new thread if/when I find something I need to save hijacking Jason's thread  ;)

Paul

Hello Sandy,

Thanks for the marriage details for Fanny Ellen Smart as she is one of my Bozeat Smarts. You have confirmed the info that I had from other sources but without real proof. I have not found a connection between my Smarts and Jason's, his seem to have originated in Riseley, Beds., so you never know, not a million miles to Bozeat. Another research project...

Happy New Year

Hello jtobred and CraftyP,

Luke Chambers Smart is/was a 1st cousin twice removed, his grandfather Lucas was my great great grandfather. I have a copy of a professionally researched Smart tree which has Mary Ann Smith as born 6 Nov 1862 at 11 Horse Market, Northampton, parents John Smith born Easton Maudit in 1835 or 6 and Eliza Coe baptised All Saint's Northampton 31 Aug 1834 and they married 10 Jun 1860 also at All Saint's.

I have not had time to check the censuses to find the family yet but if this ties in with your research I can offer suggestions for several previous generations of both Smiths and Smarts.

CraftyP can I be cheeky and ask for a copy of the marriage certificate too?

Hi again Sandy,

Never seen that site before but it is almost certainly the same Penny Mercer  :)

The page I referred to is the Genuki page mentioned in iluleah's post and Penny has an Aussie e-mail address  ;)

Hi iluleah/Sandy,

Thanks for your replies.

I had forgotten Penny Mercer's page! Will follow up on that idea.

Sandy, not sure which book you are referring too as there are several mentioned on Penny's page. Maybe "Bozeat 2000"? Been looking for that one for several years now! One of my aunts used to work for Whartons!
