Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: please can any one find Fanny Scutts

Hi Ann E, Mea Culpa (or not quite). You are right about the marriage between Fanny Oatley & William Henry Cutts but he did sign his name as Scutts! [Isle of Wight 2b 663 Scutts] / [COE14.1/86 Scutts] and their daughter was registered as Fanny Elizabeth Scutts [Isle of Wight 2b 560 Scutts]. Also on the Census 1871 she is mentioned as Elizabeth Scutts at Fulmer Place, Whippingham, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, as granddaughter of Elizabeth Oatley, age 3, birthplace West Cowes. They will be duly deleted from my Scutts database. This is not the first time that a Cutts is registered as a Scutts. Sarah Elizabeth Scutts b:1845 [Stepney 2 527 Scutts] is a Cutts and the jury is still out on Joseph Cutts/Scutts and Lucy Stoneham whom married circa 1845 at Malmesbury, Wiltshire. They are nearly always mentioned as Scutts on the censuses but their children are born as Cutts. Regards, Jimmy Scutt

Hi Ann, William Henry Scutts [Skutts] family tree is on my website - - search under Scutts and not Scutt. William remarried and to Margaret Fitzgibbons. He died in 1916 in London and was preceded by Margaret. If you want a detailed database covering these Scutts and including the Censuses then write directly to * Regards, Jimmy Scutt.
