Australia / Re: unable to find death

Thanks for checking Debra.  When posting I neglected to mention her parents were Thomas Schofield and Mary Ann (nee Cameron).   So I had discounted the BDM in 1944 which said mother was Sophia.   However if she was living with her son in Newtown that puts a different light on the matter.  Unfortunately I haven't got a current Ancestry, therefore not checked that.  Many thanks again.

Australia / unable to find death
« on: Thursday 22 August 19 23:54 BST (UK)  »
Robert Routledge Webster and Adelina (Adeline) Schofield married in Tamworth district (probably Nundle) in 1887.   Found 7 children between then and 1904.   Robert died in Tamworth d. 1938.  But unable to discover when/where Adelina may have died.   Does anyone have a suggestion please.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas Crittenden in Sussex

I have studied the convict Thomas B and think can safely say he is not this Thomas' father.  I am now wondering if Hannah and Thomas Balcomb (Snr) can be found on the 1841 or 51 census? (According to a Pioneer Register, Alice Balcomb died in 1845 of exposure having been lost overnight night after a Church service.  I add this for any future readers)

ciderdrinker that information looks terrific.  I am just awake, and will digest and any questions I will post again.    Also appreciate your adding the links to the info.  I am very much a novice and needy of help :)  Thank you so very much.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Thomas Crittenden in Sussex
« on: Friday 24 May 19 11:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello, hoping someone might be able to shed light on this chap.   I suspect he was born May 1818 Thomas Crittenden in Sussex, son of Hannah Crittenden.  But it seems perhaps a father "Thomas Balcomb"?   In June qtr 1839 Thomas Crittenden married Alice Whiteman.  It appears they migrated to Aust soon after marriage, and children born as Balcomb.  Alice Balcomb died in Aust 1854, Thomas remarried, more children, and died in Aust 1906 aged 88 according to obituary. (sometimes Balcombe). I do not know whether they migrated as Balcomb or Crittenden, nor why the change of name if they are one and the same family.  Would appreciate some help. :)

England / Re: cooke marrying Burge

Thank you for the info on the George Burge family Trish.   male Burge marrying Cooke; then male Cooke marrying a Burge.   Brother sister marrying brother sister in next generation.  Talk about confusing my brain.    Things like Mary Anne Cooke(nee Burge) death record states her father was "Samuel" not George - doesn't help.   I guess research isn't meant to be easy  :)

Thank you very much Dundee.  It is no wonder I couldn't find Edward George on freebdm, as I kept putting in Burge.   It is good to have that :) problem solved.

Goodness me, go for a haircut and come home to such good information.   Thank you both so muchl.  Unfortunately my Ancestry sub has expired.  Can now strike out the EGC born in Australia in 1838.  Thank goodness the obituaries, which list children, helps determine I do still have the right family line.  Very grateful
