Hi

Daily Independent Journal, March 20 1949 has an article about a wedding shower for Miss Betty Richards, fiancée of George Albert Curry of San Rafael.  Betty is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Richards of San Francisco.  George was a lieutenant in the US Air Corps during the war and is employed in the Marin County Assessors office.  They will be married on Sept 4th and will live in Kentfield.  George is the son of Mrs James Curry of San Rafael and the late Mr James Curry.  His brothers are Richard and James Curry.

I also don't think that the George A Curry who murdered the policeman is the same man.  From what I can find, that George was a 45 year old (in 1959) roofer who lived in Garden Grove.

Looks like Tyrwhitt and Eaton bought 40 acres for their mill in 1842.

See the section on the history of King Township from the Aurora Banner, 1938  (about a third of the way down the page)

Septimus in King

If you read down a bit... Charles Eaton is mentioned:

So, if you contact local history groups/libraries, you should be concentrating on Kettleby, King Township :)

In 1849, another notice in the Globe and Mail...

In the matter of Septimus Tyrwhitt and Charles Edward Eaton, bankrupts.  A general meeting of the creditors will be held at the District Court Office on April 2 1848.  Notice dated Toronto, March 12, 1849 - by order of J. Maulson, Judge Home District Court

Globe and Mail newspaper... from 1848.

A notice saying that the partnership between Septimus Tyrwhitt and Charles Edward Eaton, as millers and traders under the name Tyrwhitt & Eaton was dissolved on 8th of March.  This notice is dated June 12, 1848, King.

So perhaps didn't start out as a law clerk?

Not sure it was as backwoods as you think :).  There is an interesting book about King Township on the ourroots site

There were several settlements in King - connected to Toronto (York) via Yonge Street.   The population in 1842 was about 2,600.  This is certainly not large, but is much more than a couple of tin shacks.   :) Certainly there would have been work for lawyers/law clerks.

The Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) was established in 1797.

I wonder if the local library or historical society would have some information for you (directories, newspaper articles etc).  There are some good links here.

Hi

So far, I have only found the divorce notice for Reginald W Dunscombe and Thelma Dunscombe - in the list of Applications for Judgement Absolute granted.  Sept 28, 1954.
