Well it appears to be just a house off the A747. They both died of types of cancer, maybe it was a convalescent home or hospice, maybe even a poor house?? I have another that has that location in their vitals but trying to locate them still.

Hi,

I have an Elizabeth (Milne Richie) Barron who had a daughter, Mary, who took the Moir name from her father by the time she married. She lived with her father and stepmother. But my years are ahead of yours :o( Thought I'd mention it though as the Barron/Moir name change baffled me for a while and maybe the names may mean something to you.

Thanks for your lightning speed reply :o)

I love Kirkyard but have never noticed this section before so thank you very much, just looking at it now.

My 3rd Great Grandparents both died there, 13 July 1870 and 26th October 1870. Such a short time between them :o( I needed to find an answer as it's been sitting in my head for a couple of years. I was only at Sandy Hills in July, and New Abbey in August, it's so close. Will have to drive by it next time I'm up there. Again, thank you for the help.

Right then, the lady you need to speak to is Charlotte and she is at the Abercrombie Depot of the council offices. The telephone number is 01556502327. Not sure what the number would be from Australia. Good luck :o)

Hi Abigail,

Your best bet would be to phone the council office in Castle Douglas as the have the records for the cemeteries in that area. If you have luck in locating the graves, let me know if any are in Dalbeattie cemetery and I can look them up and take photos for you next time I'm there. I do have the number somewhere but not to hand, and the name of the lady you need to speak to. Not much use am I, but wanted to respond to your message.
