Hi Tara

Yes I have seen that site but nothing appears to cover the years I am interested in, unless I have missed something.

My grandfather Michael Nolan from the years 1890 to 1901 had an occupation shown on various marriage, birth, census and death records as Coachman and Tram Driver mainly in the Dalkey area. By 1901 his occupation (on a birth certificate of one of his sons) was shown as Historian DUTC. Does anyone know of any information relating to what a Historian DTUC would have done and is there any records, books that will give any further information?

Thanks for you time, I have found their website and reference to the book and charges. Gives me plenty to work on.

Yes the 1851 extract is what  have seen. On the FindMyPast site I was able to download the actual document.

Is my understanding right that the pension was for those over 70?

The other point I am not clear on is why he would be using a c/o address in 1920, something else which may show that it s not the John Hart in my family but as there is a connection to the area there may be a reason.

1851 Census (Irish) - I have come across an extract request on the Find my Past site from a John Hart in August 1920. The extract shows the father as Michael Hart, mother as Bridget Hart (nee Morrison) and children Dennis, Patrick and Catheline. This last name may of course be spelt incorrectly and may be Kathleen or other similar sounding name.

My question is why would John Hart be making this request in 1920?

The John Hart I am aware of in my family tree was born in about 1860 in Curry Co Sligo and had moved across to England by 1890 in the Lancaster area (married 1891) and later to West Hartlepool before returning to Lancaster.

What I also would like to work out is whether this information is directly connected to my family.

Any help gratefully received.

I am presuming it would say deceased on the marriage record if he was as it does not show that I presume he was alive.

I will read the details of stewards with interest. As far as I am aware Michael senior was still alive in 1915 when Michael junior got married for a second time to a Bridget Kelly. I know Michael junior eventually was a gardener after being a coachman and a tram driver. He was a gardener in Court na farrage in Killiney by 1917.
