Sloppy sloppy sloppy

No bith certs for the 4 children, no marriage cert, no explanation why (other than occupation) the Llanelli Daniel Price was the right one.. no confirmation the widow was Sarah Louise.. no explanation why she was listed in the paper as having 3 children, eldest 11, when they had 4.. no explanation why Jane was in Liverpool when the others allegedly in Llanelli

I'm a few days late, but I've checked the workhouse records in Liverpool Record Office.

I think the family travelled to S.Wales and left Jane in Liverpool.

The workhouse records show that the Jane was in St. Paul's Eye and Ear Hospital up to December 1897.

On 9.Dec.1897 she was admitted to a surgical ward in Brownlow Hill Workhouse, Liverpool, from St. Paul's.

She remained in this ward for two years until 20.Oct.1899, when she was sent to the Kirkdale Industrial Schools.

The records for Kirkdale state that her parents were unknown.

On 23.Feb.1903 she was discharged from Kirkdale "to service".

Lancashire / Re: Coroner's Records
« on: Monday 24 September 07 15:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Merseyside Record Office holds the Inquest Papers for Liverpool from 1937-1985. Papers under 75 years old are closed to the general public, and permission to view them must be sought from the Coroner's Office. Permission is usually only granted to close relatives of the deceased.

You may find a report of the Inquest in the local newspapers, held at the Record Office.

The Inquest Registers provide basic information including date, place and cause of death. The 75 year rule does not apply to these documents.

The following registers are available at Liverpool, all on microfilm.

Liverpool, 1852 to 1865.
Liverpool, 1898 to 1970.
Birkenhead, 1898 to 1972.
Wallasey, 1937 to 1976.
