Not very far. This is it here on the same map as before. It's east south east of Quoig.

Do the witnesses to the baptisms of Hugh and any brothers or sisters include any Cunninghames?

Looking at the published Canongate burgess roll, the only Bartholemew is John Barthilmo, dyer, made burgess 21-7-1632.

Here are the Drysdale burgesses in the Canongate:

I thought it was more likely "a daughter named". All of the entries seem to have either ADN or ASN (for a son), and while I've struggled to make everything out, I didn't see 'fornicator' against any of the others.

You are quite right. A daughter named.

The date is:

Thursday ye 2 august 1610

The second baptism that day, starting on line 8, is:

R[ober]t Drysdaill fornicator w(i)t(h) easter sword A
D N Jonet w[itnesse]s willia[m] [       ] & Jon Drysdaill

I'm not entirely certain about the surname of the first witness. ADN is an abbreviation of "a daughter natural." The minutes of St  Cuthbert kirk session are available for the period, so doubtless there will be a mention of the fornicators there. Easter will be Esther and Sword is a surname found in Edinburgh at the time.

James Anderson was born in Aberdeen according to the censuses.

In 1841 he is a journeyman blacksmith working for John Ogston at Mill of Laithers, Turriff.

In 1851 he is a blacksmith farming 5 acres at Castle of Auchry, Monquhitter.

In 1861 he is a blacksmith at Haremoss, Monquhitter.

In 1871 he is a blacksmith and crofter of 8 acres at Greeness, Monquhitter.

In 1881 he a blacksmith at Greeness, Monquhitter.

The Aberdeen Journal, Wednesday 27th May 1868:

MONQUHITTER - CHILD BURNED. - On Thursday last, a
girl about three years old, Jane, daughter of James Ander-
son, blacksmith, Hill of Greeness, while left alone in the
house by her mother for a short time, went too near the
fire, and her clothes became ignited. She ran screaming out
of the house, and the gale of wind blowing at the time
served to hasten her destruction. Her mother heard her
cries, and came to her assistance immediately, but before
the flames were put out the poor child was fearfully burnt.
She died the following day.
