Lancashire / Lord Derby's , Valet
« on: Monday 30 June 14 16:30 BST (UK)  »
HI my great Uncle Herbert ( Hubert , his employers changed it ) was Lord Derby's Valet and travelled abroad with him. He was born in 1880 so I reckon this must have been around 1920's .  I know the Stanley seat was Knowsley Hall . How do I get access to staff records ?

Hi , I would be most grateful if someone could check the above records concerning my grandfather Frederick Hardy 1882 - 1949 . He stared work for the NER as a clerk at Scarborough Station aged 18. By the time he retired from the LNER in 1947 he was Assistant Superintendent  for passenger traffic from York to Berwick . I have checked the Ancestry railway records and can not find him .I understand that "when the GNR was merged with other railways in 1923 including the North Eastern Railway all members of staff of the new company were given the chance to join the GNSFS, virtually all staff did so, making the records a virtual ongoing census of staff employed by the LNER"

Kind Regards

Nick
