George Bardy b1777 Burton Leonard was the son of John Bardy and his wife Jane Archer. They were married Ripon 1776. They were both widowed. George married Hannah Greyat Skipwith 27th October 1802. They had several children most if not all died. Hannah died in Aug 1810. Georgethen married Mary Carvel at Aughtonin October 1810. He didnt waste much time did he! Perhaps there was a surviving child that needed care(Matthew)? George had Samuel born Storwood 1811 or 1812, then Charles who was christened at Thornton 1st March 1813. There were other children one called Jane born BL.1814.Samuel was charged with poaching at York assizes in 1843. He was found not guilty. Others charged with him were not so lucky. Charles married Alice Cookson in Knaresborough 1834. Henry was born 1837. Charles was living at 155 Margaret Terrace York in 1851. Henry married Lucy Slack Feb 17 1865 in York. My husband is descended from their son George born 1872. His mother was called Annie Bardy. :)

I have traced the Bardy family back to Knaresborough and Burton Leonard. After that things get a bit hazy. Can anyone help? I know the surname is French and Henry Bardy born Knaresbro 1837 and his father were linen weavers. I would love to find a French Connection. :)
