Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1684 probate
« on: Saturday 14 November 20 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
Attached is the probate paragraph in Latin at the end of a 1684 will.
Can someone please tell me what the word is between "Grahame" and "Graham" ? and what it means ?

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1643 Will - Graime
« on: Friday 30 October 20 18:40 GMT (UK)  »
I'd appreciate it if someone would confirm that the first five words in the 4th line of the attached are "her sonne and my heire"
I want to be quite sure because, if that is correct, it's an important clue in tracing my ancestors.
And, if possible, a translation of the Latin paragraph at the end would be appreciated too, please.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1568 will & inventory
« on: Wednesday 28 October 20 19:22 GMT (UK)  »
I'm hoping someone will be able to transcribe this will and the inventory for William Graham. I can just about make out the first two or three lines of both documents, but after that I'm lost.
Both docs cropped and shrunk to 70% to get them under 500k, so I hope the quality is OK.
I'll attach the inventory in my next post.

South Africa / Johanna Elizabeth van Rhede van Oudtshoorn
« on: Friday 16 October 20 14:11 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to discover who her parents were. She was born Apr 1897 in Ermelo, and died Jun 1975 in Turffontein. She married Andries Johannes Odendaal in 1919 in Ermelo - they had 9 children.
Her death notice just says that her parents are deceased. I've trawled through endless death notices for vRhede vOudtshoorns looking at the names of their children, but cannot find Johanna.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Latin - admittance (?) Andreas Grame

And here's another document for translation, if possible, please - also posted in two pieces to cut it down to size.
Many thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Latin - Indenture? and bond for Sewell/Grame
« on: Saturday 28 March 20 16:50 GMT (UK)  »
May I have a translation of these two early 16th century documents, please?
The indenture(?) is 2 pages - but the 1st page is posted in two pieces, as the whole page would've been over the 500kb limit.

Apologies in advance for the terrible quality of this document, but I am desperately hoping that one of the Latin experts on RootsChat will be able decipher at least some fragments of the text.
All I know is that it is regarding property - Botcherby Holm [in Carlisle, Cumberland] - and I can read the names Robinson and Gulielmi [William] Grame.
Even the tiniest bit more information would be very much appreciated.

Another Latin document for translation, if possible, please.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / John Graham Latin document
« on: Wednesday 06 November 19 18:27 GMT (UK)  »
For translation if possible. It's from a collection of bonds, surrenders, admittances, wills etc - early 18th century, I think
Many thanks.
