South Africa / Gezina Elizabeth Botha b.c1827

I'm trying to discover who Gezina Elizabeth Botha's parents were.

Gezina married twice:
(1) Theodorus Christoffel BOTHA - died before Mar.1855. They had 3 children: Jacobus Petrus b.Jun 1845; Theodorus Ernest Christoffel; Sara Susana Gesina Elizabeth.
I think Theodorus C was born 1821 Somerset East, son of Jacobus Petrus BOTHA x Sara Susanna STRYDOM.
(2) Theodorus Ernst BOTHA b.c1832 Somerset, d.Oct 1896 Rustenburg, son of Philippus Rudolf BOTHA x Carolina Margaretha Aletta BOTHA. Theodorus & Gezina married Mar.1855 in Smithfield - he was 22 bachelor, Gezina 28 widow. They had one son Theodorus Ernst.
Gezina died after Oct 1896.

I have found the following records:
- 1845 bapt/DoB of her eldest son Jacobus Petrus
- 1855 marriage of Gezina and Theodorus E,
- 1896 death notice of Theodorus Ernst, with his and Gezina's will.

Needless to say, there are other Gezina/Gesina Eliz.Bothas - but none of them fit the above facts or provide clues to "my" Gezina's parents.
Based on the names of the children of Gezina's first marriage, I'm beginning to wonder whether the daughter of Theodorus Ernst Botha x Gesina Elizabeth van Rooyen was not the Gezina Elizabeth Jacoba Botha who married Gerhardus P Pretorius. Just a thought.

Any help in discovering who Gezina's parents were would be much appreciated.

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Which website for online family tree ?

I want to put our family tree online so all the family can access it. But which is the best website?
I tried Ancestry but don't like their layout - it's far too large and spread out - and all that scrolling around is quite tiresome.
Is there a website which has a nice compact view? like PAF, for example, where you can see a family group of 3 generations, with dates/places etc at a glance.

South Africa / SMIT Jacob b.1877

I am searching for information about the parents and siblings of Jacob SMIT (b.March 1877, d.c1965 Johannesburg) and his wife Louisa. They were married in 1906 in Vrededorp.
Jacob's full name may have been Johannes Jacobus Smit.
We think Louisa's maiden name was GROBELAAR, born in Cradock. She died c1970 in Johannesburg.
Jacob & Louisa's children were:
- Nicolaas [m. ? Johnson]
- Abraham
- Jacobus (Jackie)
- William Louis b.c1919 [m. Beryl Tunmer];
- Benjamien;
- Maria (Mimi) Magdalena b.1921 [m. Basil Ashington]
The only other info we have for Jacob is "Elsburg" and his ID number - it is an "old" ID number, and I'm not sure whether that means he was born in Elsburg or whether that was where he was living when the 1950 census was taken.

South Africa / Graham/Esslemont - Port Nolloth marriage

Can anybody help me find the marriage record of Gerard Graham and Lilyan Esslemont in 1912 in St Andrews Church, Port Nolloth?
A few years ago I did find a scan of the entry in online parish records, but I had only just started researching our family tree and didn't know how important it was to make a note of sources/refs etc - so I just wrote "p.77 in parish records" in my notes.
Now I cannot find the entry or remember where I saw it. I've spent hours and hours searching fruitlessly through the SA parish record images on the familysearch site.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Graham of Wetheral

I am looking for the parents/siblings/family of John Graham born c.1796 in Wetheral, Cumberland.
He married Francis Maria Gillson and became vicar of Hinxton (CoE) - the family are in the 1851 and 1861 census.
His parents may have been Joseph Graham and Mary Hobson.

The family owned Wetheral Shields Farm and I have 9 letters addressed to him in Hinxton regarding the management of the farm, rents collected, etc. The letters were from William Robinson (1837-1853) and T Mandell (1857-1860), both of whom were his cousins.

Amongst the old family documents there are also three for Thomas Chapman of Gretton, Northamptonshire - his will 1789, land tax exemption 1799 and a conveyancing document 1733 - but have no idea who he is or how he is connected to the Grahams.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Am trying to trace my mother's family. Her father was John Edgar Doyle and her mother was Violet (Vicky) Gwendoline Sheppard - married 1921.

My great grandfather was John Joseph Fitzpatrick O'Doyle and I think his wife was Swedish.

My other great grandparents were William Henry Halse Sheppard and Louisa Jacoba Massyn - married 1898.

Can anybody help please?

I'm looking for the parents and siblings of Gerard Gay Graham born in Putney 16/5/1873. I think his father was William Graham.

Gerard married Lilyan Kipling Esslemont in 1912.

Can anyone help please?
