Thanks for checking Debbi - thought it was worth asking.  :(

Has anyone got access to the 1841 census?

Devon Completed Lookup Requests / 1841-51 census Lookup request - Exeter, Devon
« on: Saturday 30 April 05 15:12 BST (UK)  »
Could someone be so kind as to lookup the following family for me:

William Garton    Father
Sarah Garton (Bicknell)    Mother
Henry Aaron Garton     Son born 1831

Looking in the IGI it seems they were married in St Paul, Exeter Devon in 1826.  And their son Henry was christened there in 1831.  Am hoping that they still lived there for the 1841 and 1851 census.

Any help would be gratefully received.  :)

Kind regards,

Theresa

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Re: Parish Register lookup - St Helier - SEWELL
« on: Saturday 30 April 05 15:03 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both for the info.  The family in the 1871 census may be a relation.

The only information that I do know is she married my 3g grandfather Henry Garton in Chelsea in 1853, they both appear in the 1861 census in Marylebone with her place of birth being St Helier Jersey, aged 36.

From this census (I am presuming) that she had 2 children out of wedlock both born in Torquay Devon.  I wonder if it is possible that she was christened there (but born in Jersey?)  ???

Thanks to you both for your help - much appreciated.  :)

Sorry just read your question.  On the marriage certificate it states that Emma Ditchfields father is unknown - so I was hoping that looking at the census would shed some light on who her parents were.  :-\

Not quite sure what to do now though - should I post another request after for someone to look up the parish register for her birth do you think?

Again thanks for the help.

Fantastic - thanks ever so much.  No they didnt seem to move around much at all.  Apparently the Clements lived in Elford for centuries - lol.

Thanks again - much appreciated.  :) :) :)

Could someone please check for the following 2 people in these 3 censuses and let me know the details of the household for each of them.

Thomas Clement born circa 1831 in Elford, was a Shoemaker
Emma Clement nee Ditchfield born circa 1833 in Elford

They were living together in the 1861 census but not the previous two as they married in 1855 in Elford.

Any information would be gratefully received. :)

Many thanks,

Theresa
