Thank you so much yet again.

Maybe I was going search-blind over the past few days.

Hey - thanks so much for that!!

I have spent three days looking through 1851 and 1861 census and haven't found anything like the information you have found.

Much, much appreciated.

The Common Room / Re: What's your highest number of children born to a couple

There were sixteen children born to one couple in my family.  One of those children went on to have 16 children too.  Unfortuntely they do not lead to many descendents as some died young, others didn't appear to marry or had no children.

Hi

The parents of one family are William and Eliza Chappell (various spellings)

Their children are

John born 1835
Thomas born 1840
Eliza born 1833
William born 1837
David born 1842
Mary Ann born 1846

Sorry, I am at work at the moment and haven't any information regarding the second family.  I can post those later.

The Common Room / Search tip please

Hi everyone

I'm new to Rootschat so I hope someone can help me.

I have two families - the fathers being first cousins.  The family name is Chappell but is often spelt differently (Chapel / Chapple / Chappel).  The family lived in Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire for generations.  Everyone for many generations were born, married and died there.

One family has six children, the other has four children.

None of the families appear on any census after 1841 even though some children were born just a few years before that.  They all just disappear!!  I cannot find any marriage or death records for them either.  They were a poor family (many ended up in workhouses) so I doubt they travelled abroad but I haven't ruled that out yet.

I have searched through 1851 and 1861 census records for everyone born in Furneux Pelham (luckily it's not a large village) but found nothing.

Can anyone help me by suggesting where or how else I can search?

Many thanks for any tips
Rishile
