Lincolnshire / Thomas or Stephen Jones
« on: Thursday 22 December 11 20:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I just learned of another connection to my family tree. A Thomas or Stephen Jones married my great cousin Pearl Lillian Fisher in 1933. THe informatino I got said he was a Welby Vicar. DOes this mean he was a VIcar from the town of Welby. From what I can find a Vicar is someone who works at teh CHurch. If this is the case, has anyone searching the Welby area ever come across the names.

They had three boys. 1935 to 1944, Barrie S Jones, Jeremy S.S. Jones and Francis Jones.

They also lived in an area called Pontypridd and another district called Chapel en Le Frith.

She died sometime in 1992 (I think)

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Australia / Jock FISHER, Busselton death 1971
« on: Wednesday 19 October 11 14:12 BST (UK)  »
Robert Stewart Fisher moved to Western Australia some time in early 1930 and worked on the Jetty in Busselton. I received some new information that he was a janitor at the Old Fire Hall on Queen Street. Here is the information I got:

He was a Scotsman who was always known here as 'Jock' Fisher. Jock was not a fireman, he was the 'Fire Station Keeper', [in basic terms a janitor]. He lived in a small room at the rear of the Fire Station building in Queen Street, Busselton and was responsible for security and for keeping the station and equipment clean and tidy.
Jock was a 'loner' who kept very much to himself. Dances were often held at the Station but despite living on the premises, Jock never attended them. Nothing is known about his family origins. He loved his whisky and drank at The Vasse Hotel but he wasn't a habitual drunkard. He smoked a pipe.
He 'worked the boats' at the Busselton jetty, [i.e. he was a dockworker].
He had only two known friends, a Charlie Butcher and a Ron Perkins (both now dead) who often had breakfast with him at the Fire Station on Saturday mornings.
When he died his entire possessions were put into a single suitcase and given to the Red Cross

I hope someone reading this may have rememberd him or even have a photo. Any new information would help greatly.

Thanks

Australia / Resource - FISHER death certificate
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 15:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have been searching for a distant relative and always thought they may have died in England. No information was ever found. BUT.... I just found a death in Australia that could be him.
His name is Robert Stewart Fisher
Born Glasgow Scotland

the death info I found on Ancest... is as follows

Robert Stewart FISHER
Western Australia
82 years
Father, Thomas J
Mother, Mary
Reg Place, Swan, Weatern Australia
Reg # 166/71

Is there a way for someone to find out more information about this or obtain a copy.

I checked the Electoral rolls up from 1930 to 1954 and found a Robert Stewart Fisher and a warf labouror. Which is fitting since his marriage certificate stated he was a ship steward in 1914. He married Helen Glenesk in 1914 in Glasgow but there is no mention of her in the electoral rolls. Possible divorce or death?

Thank you to all who has looked at this. Eager to learn more.

Australia / Question about Electoral Rolls
« on: Friday 24 June 11 13:32 BST (UK)  »
Hello I found Frederick Percy Jones and Isabol Jones at 77 Eastern Ave, South Sydney, Kensington.

In 1949 there is a Frederick Percy Jones JR. My question is, are the names on the roll people who are voting age? or people living at the house?

What was voting age in the late 40's

Thanks
Tim Fisher
