Pembrokeshire / Higgon Marriage
« on: Sunday 25 July 21 13:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to confirm the marriage of David Higgon to Margaret Davies prior to 1833 in probably Llanychaer, Pembrokeshire.   Margaret was born about 1797 in Llanychaer.   In 1841 David and Margaret were living with their children Martha born 1833, Thomas born 1835 and John born 1838 in Llanychaer.
Thank you, Dave

Thank you for the baptisms.   Some of my wife’s ancestors came from Clack, notably the Bridgeman family of the early 18th century.  They moved to Newton St Loe and as they say, the rest is history.

Thanks again, I think I have finally sorted out the GRO.   Previously I've been using FreeBMD, for whom I used to transcribe, so I was unaware of advances in GRO.   I can't find William Cox either.

Thanks CaroleW.  What a mistake to make!   Cold Ashton is in Gloucestershire as is Pucklechurch.   Having lived in the area for over 30 years (admitidly in Wilts) I should know better.
I’ll leave the post here for now and see what happens.

OK thanks, must have missed it although I copied the day and month.   Thanks for heads up on GRO, not possible when I was transcribing for them.   I tried the link but it came up as page not available.

Thank you Capetown very informative.   Coincidentely I am currently looking at the Cainey or Keyner family who came from Wiltshire and moved to Cold Ashton.   Project for another day will be to see if there is a link with them and Hannah Cainey.

Do you happen to have a year for Daniel and Hannah's marriage?

OK.   1841 census shows a number of children for Daniel and Hannah the oldest being Sarah Ann, born about 1826 so the marriage would usually be earlier than that date.
When looking for the registration of the youngest, William (shown as female in 1841), there are a number of registrations.   However, as mothers' maiden names do not appear before Sep qtr 1911 I fail to see how this can help.
