The Lighter Side / Re: Illegitimate children & the 1911 census
« on: Wednesday 31 December 14 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Not a case of illegitimacy, but my grandmother and her brother were both listed as living with their birth parents in 1911, when both had been taken into care 9 years previous. My grandmother was also listed with her foster parents and her brother was in Canada, so not an accurate census, but I guess at least it shows they were not forgotten.

Mary , I have found the tomb and taken some photos. It is in what now appears to be a children's playroom within the church. If you would pm me your email address I will send you the copies.

He must have been very important in the area to have such an impressive tomb :)

I will try on the weekend but not looking hopeful after Chris's attempt.

Here is a link to the church website where you will find transcriptions from the churchyard which may be of interest if other family were buried in the area. Look under the family history section to download the info.

I have had persons from St Pauls buried in both Greenbank and Avon View Cemeteries. It may be worth calling their record department at Canford Cremetorium, I have found them very helpful at times, if you are lucky they may give you some details without paying the fee, especially if you know the date of death.

Canada Lookup Request / Re: 1921 Census - Jones
« on: Friday 01 November 13 16:05 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks to help from Rosie I now have a copy of the census showing the children with grandparents as found by Cosmac.
Still hoping to find Albert & Una, although it looks possible now that Una had remarried   to Adelbert Lilly as she was Una Lilly at the time of her death in 1929.
Thanks again

Thank you so much Cosmac. That is definitely the ones I am looking for. I knew of a child Violet but thought she was younger and would not appear on the census. Una's parents were Jesse & Robert. Is there any way you could send me a copy of the actual census page if I pm'd you my email address? I only have access to the UK records on Ancestry
