Thank you for reposting the message Sarah :)

Grace, I also had a tour of the school building, so kind of the current owner, She also showed me the research she had done on the school history and I gave her a copy of this photo to add to her records.

My family the Cook's lived in the village for generations and some  are buried in the churchyard. I had always assumed the photo was of my grandfather or his siblings probably early 1900s but I know their father Thomas John Cook also went to the school in the early 1870's so that is also a possibility.

The school log book made very interesting reading, hardly a day passed without at least one child getting the cane, including many of my family.

My grandfather and his siblings were born between 1895 and 1903 and they left the village of Alderton in 1914 so I assume the photo was taken during that period. My family were the Cook family, what is your family name?

Hi Zena. I have been back to Greenbank and this time was able to speak to a groundsman who showed me exactly where Williams plot would have been although it is now grassed over. I have some photos showing the location if you would like to send me a PM with your email address.

Sorry Zena. I have been to Greenbank but could not find a marker for William Ison. Much of area T had been grassed over  and I found very few headstones for the year 1906.

Your welcome Zena. I have a map of the cemetery as some of my relatives were buried there        (  Yellow - O -1648 - graves not marked)  I will try to get there later this week and let you know what I find.

Technical Help / Re: Downloading Photos
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 23:07 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both for your replies. I tried as you suggested Hallmark and it also said E drive. I selected the eject option and the CD/DVD drawer opened, I restarted and still unable to upload photos from the card.

Japeflakes, the laptop was upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 some time ago and was downloading photos ok until today. I removed the Realtek PCIE card reader as suggested and tried to reload the driver from the internet ( not too PC literate so not sure I did it right) Anyway after restarting it said it was updating 22 items but the photos still would not load from the card.

As I really needed the photo today I resorted to finding the camera lead and uploaded from there, and just out of curiosity I tried again from the card reader and surprisingly it worked. Not sure why ;D ;D ;D.

Anyway thanks again  :D

Technical Help / Downloading Photos
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 18:02 BST (UK)  »
It seems that my laptop an HP Pavilion with Windows  8.1will no longer recognise when I put my photo card in the slot to download photos to the laptop. I just get a message saying no device found.I have tried with another card but still the same. Would appreciate any ideas why this has started happening.
Thanks
