The Common Room / What could this be about.
« on: Friday 24 February 23 12:33 GMT (UK)  »
I found this in the Wrexham Advertiser and am pretty sure it's a family I'm looking at, but don't understand what it's about.
The Elizabeth Phillips who died  is the right age, 39. Thomas Phillips the husband died in 1904.
Their sons Joseph  born 1881 and Thomas 1889.

Any ideas. Thanks.

From Findmypast I found that Wrexham Poor Law is listed but I can't find it.
The index has it as piece 27681 and ED42.
I don't know how to use these details to find it.
Can anyone help please.

Australia / Census and immigration
« on: Wednesday 08 February 23 08:48 GMT (UK)  »
Is there an Australian census, I have found a few names on the same electoral pages but without ages etc.
I think they are the same family. I can't work out if they are married and if so to who.

Also trying to find immigration records is beyond me even though it looks like they travelled as a family  shortly before 1911. They are found in Wales in 1901 but not in 1911.

Armed Forces / Thomad Henry Evans
« on: Tuesday 07 February 23 19:01 GMT (UK)  »
Pte Thomas Henry Evans, Welsh Regiment, Service No 46392
died 20 Jan 1925

I have 2 records for this man, his widow was Mary and her address was Merlin's Bridge Haverfordwest.
I think  I have him on Freebmd.
What I'm hoping to find if his wife's maiden name is given somewhere.  I'm hoping that it is Higginson.
I have him in Brymbo Wrexham in 1901 with 3 sons  but nothing found until this death.
That's if it is my couple.

The Common Room / Baptising children after fathers death
« on: Wednesday 01 February 23 17:51 GMT (UK)  »

Can anyone take a look at these baptisms at Brymbo Denbighshire on 21 February 1872.
There is Hannah Hughes d/o John and Susannah. Mount Brymbo
Also William and Mary Higginson children of John and Susannah Higginson of  Moss Broughton.
William was born as Williams c1863/ 1864 before his Mother Susannah Williams married John Higginson in 1864.
Rhosymedre Church
Mary Higginson registered Sept qtr 1867 Wrexham mmn Williams.
John Higginson 28 of Moss was buried at Brymbo on 14 May 1869.

In Sept qtr 1870 Susan Higginson married John Hughes in a Civil marriage in Wrexham district.

They are found in 1871 Brymbo.
I'm guessing that the children William and Mary were baptised with their parents names and abode from when they were born, but I'm sure that Hannah Hughes has the same mother.
It's frustrating that the registers don't give a year of birth or the fact that their father is dead,

What do you think,  ?

Denbighshire / Susannah Williams father
« on: Saturday 28 January 23 19:53 GMT (UK)  »
1864 Rhosymedre Church.
Susannah Williams spinster 25 married John Higginson 25. Father James Higginson.
Susannah names her father as William Morris sawyer.
I can only find one Susannah about the same age in Ruabon and her parents are Moses and Ann.
There is a William Morris a Sawyer in Ruabon but why is she giving that name as her father.
It's baffling me.🤔

Flintshire / Ellis Hughes.
« on: Thursday 26 January 23 13:59 GMT (UK)  »
Ellis Hughes was baptised in 1813 at Hope.Church
He married in 1835 in Hope Church and lived all his life in the area.
He is last found in 1891 in Llanfynydd , Hope aged 78.
I can't find a death or burial that fits .

There is one in 1899 in Holywell but I doubt if it's him.
Can anyone help please.
