Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Minera census Chaloner
« on: Wednesday 31 January 07 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for your response - it seems I have not explained myself very well, so I`ll run through it again.
The Machine House I am interested in is still standing and occupied. It is on a rough road off Gwernygaseg Road, close to the Five Crosses Inn.
At first I thought that this was the Machine House that my ancestor lived in, but now it turns out that it was actually another Machine House on Caradog Road, that he was a visitor in 1851 census.  The family of Roberts he was with stayed there until at least 1881.
I am now trying to find who was in the Machine House near  the Five Crosses in later census returns, as yet I only have the 1851 records for Chaloners. Whether these sisters stayed I have no idea.
I am trying to ` do` a history of the house and it`s occupants, I know it was past of the Plas Mostyn Colliery and was sold off when the colliery was sold. Even though it is not `my Machine House` it is something I would like to finish -- with a little help. :)

Believe  it or not -- but I wrote that story.
Since then I`ve discovered that the Machine House that Thomas Wilcoxon was in  and the one that the Challoners were in were two different buildings. It seems I was mistaken, and the photo I have was a
` red herring`.

The one referred to in the Wilcoxon story is in Coedpoeth and the one I am now searching for is in Minera.
Long story and very confusing !!!!. ???

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Minera census Chaloner
« on: Tuesday 30 January 07 18:04 GMT (UK)  »
I have in 1851 living at the Machine House Minera, very close to Five Crosses and Twenty Houses a Chaloner family.
The Five Crosses may have been occupied my the Owens.

1851
Joseph Chaloner wid 75   wife was Sarah.
Ellinor         "       unm 42      b  Minera
Maria          "         "     33            "
Anne           "         "     24            "

William Boyd               29    b Cemais, Montgomeryshire . Minister
Sarah Moss                 16

Anne was possibly baptised as Mary Ann in 1817

I am trying to trace   this   dwelling in later years, even if the Chaloner family have moved. I can only hope  that it`s possible in some way to find the house again.  ???
Also any more info on the 1851 occupants will be very good. I realise I am asking a lot, but so far some very helpful people have responded to other requests.
Thank you  :)

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Census for Hughes , Gwersyllt area please.
« on: Sunday 21 January 07 16:23 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks , but I think I am on the wrong track here, my later Hughes were in the Moss / Cerney area, there must have been so many William Hughes about - makes life very confusing.

I am searching for the William Hughes b 1873 wife ??? Anna Jane  (Davies (b 1859 ??)
children George, John, Price, Hannah , Ann, Mary Elizabeth and William. These were all born between 1891 and 1898.
The whole family will only be on the 1901 census, which I don`t have.
According to records passed on to me - William and Anna didn`t marry until about 1905, this makes it all a very strange situation, unless he had another wife , mother of the children who died.
They were in the Moss / Cerney area of Broughton . Wrexham
Any previous census for William Hughes will be a bonus.
Thanks again.

Sounds good, Rhosrobin is a part of Gwersyllt,
Anything later would be great, there was a wire mill   in Bradley, another part of Gwersyllt,  later records might be more specific.

Thanks very much. :)
