Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Minera census Chaloner
« on: Sunday 03 June 07 18:45 BST (UK)  »
Presumably Rowlands is Mary Jane`s married name.
I found the 1851 census record, John is 56 Elizabeth his wife is 66.
Three neices are 15 7 and 4.
I wouldn`t think that Elizabeth could be the mother at that age so if the neices are also Evans then surely they would be daughters of Johns brother ( not known ).
I guess I`m stating the obvious and you already have sussed this out.
All the Evans are stated as being born Wrexham.
Have you tried the parish registers if you are local enough to Wrexham.

I`ve tried to find the place on Old Maps, it is there but it seems I can`t send the link.
This might work though, it`s for another site.
Where you see Gwern y gaseg Road, the road that is  `dead end` is where the Machine house is.
The road that goes off to the right ,  like a v at the top is Willow Road, the house John lived in was very close to that junction.
The aerial map won`t zoomin close enought o see if it is still there.

Hello,
I`m not doing any more on the Machine house ( Challoners) as such because I`ve now found out it is not mine.  The Machine house , Pentre Fron is still there, and I went to see the people that live in it now as I thought  it was mine !!
I have the tithe map for the area dated 1845 and John Evans is shown as an occupier of a `house and garden` owned by John Burton Esq.
This propery is actually shown on the map as being on what is now Willow Road.
Getting back to John, do you know when he died, how old was he in 1851. Are you looking for his death   or are you  just trying to trace his movements.
I`ll get back to you soon.

Hi Gadget, I looked at Cheshire and found them.  It seems now that they moved to Oswestry by 1816 and then back to Chester by 1826 when a daughter Mary had a child born.  I need to find Mary`s baptism  to see how old she was when she had this child.   I think she was very young maybe 15/16.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Oswestry library look up on Brown
« on: Monday 21 May 07 16:58 BST (UK)  »
have William Brown bapt 31/05/1818  and Thomas Brown bapt 23/06/1816  at Oswestry,  both sons of Thomas Brown and Appolonia  unknown.
There was also  a daughter Mary, but not sure where she was baptised, and probably older than her brothers.
I`m trying to find Appolonia`s maiden name,  and wondering if they married in Oswestry.  There can`t be many with this name around  !!.
I have found now that there are transcriptions of St Oswalds up to 1813, Oswestry in Oswestry library, I`d be very grateful if anyone is going there if they coud have a  look for me  for me.

Thank you. :)
