Derry (Londonderry) / Silas Lennox marries Sarah Johnston, 1892, Magherafelt
« on: Wednesday 03 May 23 20:59 BST (UK)  »
I am a Johnston descendant. I have found the marriage of Silas Lennox to Sarah Johnston Oct 7, 1892 at the Registrar's Office in Magherafelt, her father Henry Johnston of Cranny, his father William
This is my problem. Henry Johnston of Cranny, wife Priscilla Latimer had a daughter Sarah on Jan 10, 1866.  Henry Johnston of Cranny, wife Margaret Taylor had a daughter Sarah Jane July 23, 1867 in Cranny. Which Sarah married Silas Lennox? If age is absolutely correct at marriage, it would be the daughter of Margaret Taylor.
I have an obituary of Sarah Lennox who died Dec 14, 1924 in Tullynagee in which no children are mentioned, and no other relatives named, but is that because the children were girls? I have Mary Jane Lennox born Nov 22, 1896, in Cranny, Sarah Maria Oct 13, 1898 in Gortavilly, and Jemima Apr 9, 1902 in Tullynagee. In 1901, they are living in Gortavilly
and this is them in 1911.
I have an unconfirmed death of Silas Lennox Oct 27, 1936 in Tullynagee for whom I cannot find his death record on Groni. But I have his obit in the Mid-Ulster Mail of Oct 31, 1936, in which his three daughters are named all with surname Lennox, but he has a son-in-law Henry John Leacock. Which daughter married Henry John Leacock? But I think the crucial bit is a nephew John Kissick, who would be the son of James Kissick and Eliza Jane Johnston, daughter of Henry Johnston and Priscilla Latimer if my tree is correct. Other nephews are Robert and Andrew Lennox who would be sons of Silas' brother William John Lennox married to Jane Johnston, daugher of Andrew Johnston and Jane Orr. Willie Lennox is another nephew that I have not figured out yet.
It might help if an obituary or writeup were found for Henry Johnston who died Feb 17, 1886 in Cranny (husband of Priscilla), if it names son-in-law. I have never found Priscilla's death. Henry Johnston, husband of Margaret Taylor, died after 1911, but I don't have his date of death.
Or a writeup for William Lennox who died May 19, 1880 in Cranny or his wife Mary Jane nee Latimer who died May 18, 1883. Anthing that names relatives.
At the moment, I am thinking Sarah is the daughter of Henry and Priscilla, because of the mention in Silas' writeup naming nephew John Kissick. Can anyone help with this?
Thank you.

United States of America / Parents of Sarah Weisert nee Waters
« on: Saturday 18 March 23 19:58 GMT (UK)  »
Sarah Waters married Albert W. Harwood June 3, 1905 in Moorhead, Clay Co., Minnesota. She married Harry Walter Weisert Nov 27, 1916 in Ramsey Co., North Dakota as per the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Her first marriage record does not name her parents but says age 27.  Hoping the second one might name her parents which are not given on her death certificate of Mar 1, 1934 in Bemidji, Turtle Lake Township, Beltrami Co., Minnesota. There is an online tree that has her birth as 1896 which is impossible since her first marriage was in 1905. My research indicates that she was born abt 1880 (emigrated 1896 age 16), possibly 1878 as per first marriage record. Perhaps there was an obit in 1934 or her marriage record of 1916 can be found. Thanks for any help.

I have found a newspaper article in the Potsdam Herald Recorder on March 15, 1918 which states that Miss Margaret McDonald was found dead in her hotel room, in Ogdensburg, age 70. That would be the exact age for her to be the daughter of James McDonald and Margaret Johnston. However, I cannot find her death certificate on either family search or Ancestry to verify her parents' names. Can anyone find her death certificate or a proper obit in order to verify Margaret's family?
Thank you

US Lookup Requests / Death certificate Thomas Dorsey, July 4,1867 in Owatonna
« on: Monday 06 February 23 23:34 GMT (UK)  »
There are many newspaper articles about the stabbing to death of Thomas Dorsey, July 4,1867 in Owatonna. However, there is no information about his age, wife or children. Perhaps his death certificate would help with that. I am told that there might be a death certificate at the court house.
After his death, there are Dorsey children staying with my Duffin relatives in Minnesota and wondered if there is a family connection to this death.
Thanks for any help.

United States of America / Obit Julia Leona Roche, Apr 8, 1959, Philadelphia
« on: Monday 09 January 23 23:46 GMT (UK)  »
Julia Leone Frye, nee Watterson, married George Washington Roche in 1951 in Philadelphia. I do not have the marriage record which just might mention if her mother Elizabeth White nee Averell  formerly Watterson is still  alive in 1951, which is what  I am really looking for. The last time that I found Elizabeth was in 1934 living in Hawthorne/Inglewood California when Julia's sister Virginia married to John George Spencer. Then Julia died Apr 8, 1959 at 4423 Spruce St., Philadelphia, and she was a widow after George died Nov 25, 1958 at same address. I have Julia's death certificate and George's. What I really am looking for is an obit to see if Julia's mother is mentioned. The informant at Julia's death was her stepson Clifford L. Roche living at 48 N. Penn St., Philadelphia. I don't think Julia had any biological children.
Julia's mother Elizabeth aka Lillian aka Lizzie Averell was born Feb 10, 1881 in Ireland but her date of birth varies on different records.
Thanks for any help.

United States of America / Parents of Mary M. Johnston, nee Brown, and sister Eliza
« on: Sunday 08 January 23 00:32 GMT (UK)  »
Mary M. Raymond nee Brown married Adam Groves Johnston Jan 13, 1883 in Summit Co., Ohio, USA.*7fpwse*_ga*NTIwOTMzODUzLjE2NjY4MTYyNzY.*_ga_4QT8FMEX30*MTY3MzExOTI3OC43NC4xLjE2NzMxMzcxNTcuNS4wLjA.

They are on the 1900 Census in Cleveland with Mary's sister Eliza Brown, single. Mary is born Nov 1845 and Eliza is born Mar 1855. They are both born Ohio, father born Massachusetts, mother born Pennsylvania.

Adam dies Dec 27, 1901 in Akron, Ohio and is buried with his first wife Sarah Milliken in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren, Howland Township, Trumbull Co., Ohio.
Mary died Aug 23, 1908 in  Cleveland. Her death record does not name parents. I don't know when Eliza died. At first, I thought it was her on Nov 26,1907 but it is not her. I have tried for years to find the parents of Mary  M. and Eliza. I have looked at the 1860 census trying to find them together in Ohio. I have tried to find Mary's first marriage to Mr. Raymond. I have searched trees on familysearch and ancestry. I have phoned Woodland Cemetery where Mary is buried. I just can't sort this family out.
Can anyone help with this? Thank you. Peggy

United States of America / Joann McLaughlin, nee Digney, formerly Fry, formerly Culver
« on: Wednesday 28 December 22 00:01 GMT (UK)  »
Joann Digney was born Nov 2, 1932  in Ohio to William James Digney and Jennie aka Virginia Margaret Watterson. Joann had 3 marriages, and as near as I can figure, the first was to James E. Fry before 1954, as Joann was a witness to her half-sister Jane Spencer's marriage on Jan 23, 1954 and Joann's surname was Fry. Her surname was Culver when her stepfather John George Spencer died in 1966. I believe her last husband was Myron A. McLaughlin and they divorced Jan 29, 1979 in Los Angeles. Joann died July 26, 1988 in Riverside, California.  I can't find an obit for Joann whose surname I believe was McLaughlin when she died. Can anyone find a death certificate or obit for Joann? I don't think she had any children.
Thanks for any help.

Tyrone / wife of Joseph Watterson, Tullyodonnel, Co. Tyrone
« on: Sunday 04 December 22 20:16 GMT (UK)  »
As per the marriage record of Matilda Watterson to David Barnes, Sept 24, 1856 at Sandholes Presbyterian, her residence was Tullodonnel and her father was Joseph, a farmer.
As per the marriage record of Isabella Watterson to Thomas McQueen/McQuin, June 1, 1854, Parish Church of Desertcreat, her residence was Tullyodonnel and her father was Joseph, a farmer.
I have been unable to find the mother's name for these girls. Many online trees suggest Ann Moffit but Joseph and Ann had all their children at Lisnamorrow.
Matilda Barnes died Feb 13, 1884 at Corkhill. Her husband David also died at Corkhill, Mar 29, 1892 with Mary Ann Crooks present, of Derrinleagh.
Isabella McQueen died July 23, 1905 at Doons with son Joseph present, although Isabella's age is out by 7 years so one could wonder. Her husband Thomas had died May 16, 1893 at Tulnacross with son Andrew present.
I haven't been able to find the name of this Joseph's wife. Looking for any help. I didn't find a will for Joseph in any possible year. Presuming he would have been born abt 1800-1810.
