Thanks very much indeed for that Colin.

I'm a little concerned that your Scottish Agneses are so far from Clapham - as you know, in those days, most people tended to stay in their own or adjascent parishes, so at the moment, I'm putting them in the "possibles tray"!
I really think that "my" Agnes was probably born nearer to Clapham, but then, I'm not ruling anything out!

Thanks again for your help,

Please can anyone help?

I know that Agnes Hardy married Robert Titterington in Clapham, Yorkshire in 1757, and according to her Burial record, she was born about 1735.

As far as I can see, Hardy is not a name that features commonly in Clapham, but I have noticed that there are Hardy events in Giggleswick, so I wonder if she was born there.
So, please, can anyone have a look at the Parish Register to see if this is the case? I'd be very grateful for any help,

Many thanks,

Hi tillypeg,

Thanks very much for that - what an amazing site!
Although I cannot find the particular Will(s) I'm looking for at the moment on it, it might be helpful for other lines. It's excellent as it really helps you to see if a particular Will is relevant to your family or not.

Thank you very much,

Hi McKha489 and Tickettyboo,

Thank you very much for your replies.

Yes, I've been trying to view these Wills online, via both the Borthwick and familysearch, without success.
But thanks for your replies,

Please can anyone help?
About 6 months ago, I had a reply to a post of mine, (from jonw65 and others), which was relating to a Will for Robert Titterington, Yeoman, of Clapham, Yorkshire, Proved in the Deanery of Lonsdale and the Archdeaconry of Richmond,1806
Due to information kindly supplied in this reply, I can now view a transcribed copy of this Will through familysearch.

I now know, that through familysearch, I can also view Wills for some other Counties/Jurisdictions too eg some Cheshire and some Lancashire ones, but not other Counties eg Lincolnshire. So, please, does anyone know if there is a site which states which Counties/Jurisdictions have Wills that can be viewed through familysearch? In particular, Im keen to see if I can view Wills which are on the Prerogative & Exchequer Courts of York Probate Index, 1688 1858.

Thanks very much,

Thank you once again Peninnes for your very kind help; once again you have bent over backwards to try to help me.
Yes, I really do think that I'll have to contact Northumberland Archives, as I've spent some time trying to track these records down, to no avail! (I try to use Rootschat only when I'm really stumped!).
Thank you so much again,

Thanks very much again for that Trish - I'm not sure if that Dorothy is "mine" - I really do need to see
Kirkheaton Parish Records!

Thanks very much Peninnes and trish for your kind replies -

Don't worry, it's an easy slip to make; I've done a lot worse in the past! At least you tried to help me.

I was just hoping that someone with local knowledge/data would be able to tell me if Dorothy (and her family) featured in these Kirkheaton registers, as I cannot find her.

Hi Peninnes, PaulineJ and Emeltom,
Thanks very much for your replies. Peninnes, thanks also for your pm re another topic.

I know that Dorothy married Robert Forrest in 1787 in Jarrow and they had several children born in South Shields, and on the Baptismal records of some of these, it states that Dorothy was "a Native of Kirkheaton, Northumberland"
Then, she was buried in South Shields on 19/1/1837, aged 75.
So, I have assumed that she was born in Kirkheaton about 1762.
I have struggled to find church records for Kirkheaton, but I have also read that the registers are with Throckrington. But I still have failed to find a suitable baptism for her, so I was wondering if someone with local knowledge might be able to suggest something.
Thanks very much,
